Senior Manager, Data Governance (12 month contract)

The Senior Manager is responsible for developing and executing data governance processes in order to improve the data quality of the Business Banking credit risk data.

The focus will be to ensure all compliance activities relating to Risk Data Aggregation and Risk Reporting (RDARR) and the Data Office (DO) are established and up to date in order to meet BCBS 239 requirements and DO data governance policies/standards.

The role will require effecti ve communication skills and a hi gh degree of collaboration wi th data providers, report preparers, analysts and technical developers.

The individual will work cl osely with a variety of data stewards throughout Scotiabank, specifically in GRM and Fi nance .

Key Accountabilities: Responsible for projects that ensures the Business Banking data contained in the Certified Data Source (CDS -ER) is accurate, complete and timely.

This includes on-boarding new data feeds, enhancement to existing feeds, IFRS 9 enhancements etc.

Ensure all RDARR annual activities are completed within negotiated timelines.

These include: updating/creating SLAs, documentation of manual processes and EUCs for each data feed, annual executive survey, working with Data Stewards and Data Custodians in selected countries to ensure RDARR compliancy, identification and maintenance of CDEs, annual review of Critical Risk Reports, annual stress test etc.

Responsible for the creation and maintenance of data governance standards and process documentation that aligns with DO policies.

Responsible for the identification and execution of data cleanses to ensure data accuracy within the CDS.

This includes monthly monitoring items of selected data elements.

Responsible for self-assessments (RDARR, AIRB etc) in support of stakeholder responsibilities Create/Support analytics relating to data quality and other CIS Operation processes Responsible for the creation and distribution of monthly/quarterly status reports to working group members and executives.

Coordinate all department Audit findings and ensuring management actions plans are up-to-date to ensure closure of items in agreed timeframes.

Collaborate with subject matter experts across Global Risk Management to support data defin i tion s , business ru l e s , and data l i neage.

Ensure appropriate data standards are developed to support accurate usage of data definitions .

Seek approval of data definitions by the Business Banking Data Governance Working Group and Council.

Support Business Banking Data Governance Working Group by: Contribute to agenda for regu l ar (month l y or more frequently) m eetings of the Business Banking Data Governance Working Group Manage ongoing decisions regarding data definitions by the Business Banking Data Governance Working Group Lia i se with Sen i or Manage r Data Qua l i ty to commun i cate with t he appropriate owners of data sources .

Manage i mp l ementat i on of too l s wh i ch most effect i ve l y and effic i ently enab l e the Business Banking Data Governance Office to define and manage business and technical definitions.

I n conjunct i on w i th the Sen i or Manager Data Quality, manage the i m p l ementa t i on of a su i te of too l s for manag i ng data defin i tions and bus i ness ru l es.

These too l s will support an i ntegrated v i ew of data quality i ssues i ncluding both bus i ness and technical metadata .

Qualifications 7-10 years’ experience in leading teams and projects Knowledge of ER is an asset Excellent communication oral and written skills Through knowledge of Business/Wholesale products and processes Experience with Tableau, Power Bi, SQL, SAS, Microsoft Office and other analytics tools Understanding of Agile methodology and processes Results focused and naturally curious Deta i l oriented, method i ca l , ability to i nvest i gate comp l ex i ssue s , i dent i fy root cause, formulate and i mpl ement solutions.
