Production Supervisor (Asset Owner)


This is a Contract position in Toronto, ON posted January 1, 2022.

CASCADES CONTAINERBOARD PACKAGING The Containerboard Packaging Group, a division of Cascades, is the largest containerboard producer in Canada, and is also a top converter of corrugated products in the country.

The Group manufactures a wide range of products made from recycled fibres for its North American customers in the food, beverage and consumer products sectors, among many others.

The Division, which employs close to 3,400 people, owns six containerboard mills and nineteen corrugated products plants in Canada and the United States.

Your challenge Reporting to the Production Manager, the Asset Owner’s mission is to be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of one or several line(s) including creating and executing daily action plan, developing production operators, and supporting the Process Lead and Maintenance Lead in implementation, improvement, and sustainability of Daily Management System (DMS) elements as well as Health and Safety training.

You own Daily Rhythm and Schedule (DRS) and Clean Inspect and Lubricate (CIL) processes.

Job responsibilities Develop and execute on shift action plan and daily action plan Present daily updates and action plans in area meeting Define, implement, and continuously improve processes while coaching operators to follow standard practices Validate daily performance, transactions, and time losses Validate daily quality tests and addresses any issues Share best practices with other Asset Owners Perform Health and Safety audits, develop plans for creating an orderly and clean work environment; owns A-risks Create action plan to address time losses Ensure continuous improvement Coach operators on how to properly communicate Coach operators and evaluates performance as part of annual review Experience and Education Pulp and Paper experience Experience leading and coaching teams Extensive knowledge of asset and associated processes Demonstrates good analytical, problem-solving skills Demonstrates ability to overcome ambiguous and complex situations Brings strong organizational and prioritization skills Experience and understanding of Lean Production System principles Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work well and communicate with others Demonstrate strong servant leadership value Core competencies defined for this job Managerial courage Health and safety Coaching Team leadership Continuous improvement Action-based focus Cascades believes in the success of an inclusive organization that values diversity within its team.
