Job Description

CPP Investments has a great opportunity for a developing finance leader to join a management team responsible for stewarding the organization through its next stage of growth in scale and complexity. Reporting to the Managing Director, Financial Policy and Reporting, the Director, Parent Financial Reporting will be responsible for running the day-to-day operations of the parent financial reporting team overseeing financial reporting for the consolidated financial statements for CPP Investments. This team is responsible for preparation and coordination of CPP Investments’ consolidated financial statements, drafting of certain audit committee deliverables as well as special projects relating to financial reporting for CPP Investments.

The ideal candidate will be an accomplished people manager who has a reputation for developing great talent. They will demonstrate the ability to manage a large team and effectively influence key stakeholders in many other parts of the organization. They will possess a strong acumen for financial reporting, tailored to asset management. They will demonstrate a commercial mindset and a pragmatic approach in their decision-making and communication approach. They will have significant depth in consolidation accounting, investment accounting and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). Finally, the ideal candidate will also have experience working with external auditors and managing the financial reporting process for issuing public audited financial statements.

The Director will be accountable for:

  • Managing a high-performing and collaborative team of finance and accounting professionals to service the consolidated financial statements and related reporting of CPP Investments;
  • Managing end-to-end delivery of the quarterly and annual financial reporting of CPP Investments, including supporting deliverables relating to the annual report;
  • Developing strong internal processes and controls within the team and with key stakeholders to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial information;
  • Managing relationships with the external auditors during quarterly financial statement reviews and the annual audit and resolving complex issues;
  • Advising management on execution of complex projects, programs or issues and contributing to team and departmental objectives.


  • 9+ years of experience in a finance role involving financial reporting and controls; solid exposure to investment and fund accounting for multi-asset class portfolios;
  • A track record of working collaboratively with multiple departments to identify and solve issues and ability to influence at all levels in the organization;
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills with experience presenting to various levels and writing reports for senior executives;
  • Strong operational and team leadership in a complex, global organization;
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate a team in a fast-paced information-intensive environment;
  • A continuous learning mindset;
  • Display a commercial approach in their decision-making and is solution-oriented in the face of obstacles;
  • A professional accounting designation from a globally reputed professional body;
  • Highly collaborative and enjoys being a part of a culture of excellence, is flexible and constantly strives to innovate; and
  • Exemplifies CPP Investments guiding principles of integrity, partnership and high performance.
