This is a Contract position in Toronto, ON posted March 21, 2023.

The Art Gallery of Greater Victoria is located just 20 minutes from downtown Victoria in a beautiful park-like setting.

The Gallery is housed in a combination of contemporary exhibition spaces and the remarkable 1889 Spencer mansion.

It is the largest public art gallery on Vancouver Island and one of the most significant in Canada with its important collection of visual and decorative arts.

Start Date: April 2023 Hours: 35 hours per week, full-time Salary: $100,300 per annum, with additional extended health & dental benefits, pension contributions and 4 weeks paid vacation.

Location: Onsite at 1040 Moss St., Victoria, BC.

The Gallery currently has an opening for Director of Development and Marketing.

Reporting to the Director/CEO, this role is a member of the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria (AGGV)’s senior management team and is responsible for the planning and implementation of all marketing and fundraising activities with an emphasis on building relationships with the Gallery’s constituents.

This position is a Monday to Friday 35-hour per week role, with additional hours as required to attend special events and other activities beyond normal working hours.

Portions of work are to be completed in office on set days of the week with the potential for remaining work to be completed remotely.

Responsibilities: This position assists in setting the strategic direction of the organization, ensures fiscal responsibility and oversees internal controls all while supporting the effective and efficient delivery of the AGGV Society’s mandate.

Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship building skills are mandatory for this position, as well as a strong understanding of marketing and communication principles, including brand identity.

The ability to set priorities and participate in the development of annual and strategic plans is also required.

Qualifications: The preferred candidate will hold a Master’s degree in Business Administration or equivalent, Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) designation, and have 10 years of experience leading a successful development program, preferably in an arts organization.

The successful candidate will possess a skill-set of effectively working with a diverse range of staff, donors, corporate executives, and Board of Directors.
