– Start Date in August Organization Description: Out On Screen is a registered charity and queer arts organization, operating on the unceded territories of the xwməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations or what is now known as Vancouver, BC.

Our mission is to celebrate, illuminate, and advance queer lives through film, education and dialogue.

Currently we pursue our mission with two core programs:
– The Vancouver Queer Festival is a vibrant space for queer arts, culture, and community.

It showcases dynamic and thought-provoking films from British Columbian filmmakers as well as other Canadian and international directors and storytellers.

The Festival curates films which contextualize and celebrate queer lives and experiences.

We prioritize foregrounding diverse identities in our communities, including narratives from trans people, queer people of colour, and Indigenous people.

– Out In Schools is an award winning education program that uses queer film to spark dialogue to challenge homophobia and promote inclusion.

Since its inception in 2004, we have reached more than 120,000 youth and adults across BC.

We acknowledge that we are a historically settler-led organization.

In recognition of this, Out On Screen is reviewing our commitment to being in right relations with local First Nations, with the intention of re-establishing what that work looks like and how we show up in the work of decolonization.

Likewise, we acknowledge that we have a responsibility to ensure our internal practices align with our external presentations, and that all staff and volunteers must feel safe, seen, and supported in their work.

Website: http://outonscreen.com Job Description: Overseeing a team of two staff and reporting to the Executive Director, the Development Director develops, implements and oversees Out On Screen’s fundraising plans to secure the revenue and resources it needs to carry out its mission.

Responsibilities: Essential Functions
– Responsible for raising 90% of Out On Screen’s revenue from individual giving, corporate support, and private and public funders.

– Maintains and deepens relationships with Out On Screens supporters and funders through stewardship and fundraising communications, campaigns, and events.

– Grows Out On Screen’s base of supporters through relationship and funder prospecting.

– Produces monthly financial reconciliation reports, fundraising campaign updates, and annual reports to funders and sponsors.

– Serves in a leadership position within Out On Screen and participates in organization-wide meetings, events and initiatives.

Supervisory Responsibilities
– Oversees the Development Department, which includes an Individual Giving Officer and a Development Coordinator position.

– High degree of collaboration with other departments at Out On Screen, including weekly meetings with the Leadership team and bi-weekly meetings with Operations for finance related tasks.

Working Conditions
– 40 hrs/week, flexible schedule between Monday to Friday with some evenings and weekends as required.

– Out On Screen is currently working from home for the remainder of 2021 with our downtown office available on a reservation basis.

Available office space during the COVID-19 pandemic is at a reduced capacity with added cleaning and sanitization protocols.

We will re-evaluate our office needs for 2022 but expect this flexible arrangement to continue.

– Our downtown Vancouver office has limited accessibility, with a minimum 3” step up into the building, elevators, and standard sized doors.

Efforts are made within our office to provide a scent reduced space but common areas, including shared bathrooms, have no regulation.

Given the age of the building and the fourth floor location, our office also receives a lot of dust.

– Additional one week office closure the second week after the festival ends (August 30
– September 3) and an office closure at the end of the year (December 24
– January 4).

Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
– High degree of written and verbal communication skills required.

– Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platforms, like eTapestry or Kindful.

– Proficient skills with MS Office Suite and GSuite.

Training and Experience
– 2 years of team management and supervisory experience is key.

– 3 to 5 years of fundraising, sales, and/or relationship management experience.

– Understanding of Canada Revenue Agency guidelines for charities, donations, and sponsorships.

– Experience with financial reporting and data management.

– Direct experience managing corporate sponsorships, public sector grants, and/or planned giving considered an asset.

– Project management is an asset.

– Licenses, certificates and registrations
– Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) certification an asset.

Remuneration: $60,000-$65,000/year Additional benefits include:
– $500 health and wellness fund;
– $500 professional development fund;
– $150 networking fund;
– Annual AFP membership and local chapter dues ($355).

Staff are eligible for enrolment in our extended health, drug, and dental benefits plan after a 90 day probation period.

Contract includes 3 weeks paid vacation and two additional weeks of office-wide closures: one week after the festival wraps (August 30
– September 3) and one week at the end of the year (December 24
– January 4).
