This is a Contract position in Toronto, ON posted October 2, 2021.

Development Director — BC Alliance for Arts Culture Home About News Classifieds Services Events Resources Job Postings Development Director July 12, 2021 Organization: Out On Screen Deadline: Rolling Deadline
– Start Date in August Organization Description: Out On Screen is a registered charity and queer arts organization, operating on the unceded territories of the xwməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations or what is now known as Vancouver, BC.

Our mission is to celebrate, illuminate, and advance queer lives through film, education and dialogue.

Our vision is a society where all gender and sexual diversity thrives.

Our team is passionate about making a difference in the communities we serve.

Currently we pursue our mission with two core programs:
– The Vancouver Queer Festival is a vibrant space for queer arts, culture, and community.

It showcases dynamic and thought-provoking films from British Columbian filmmakers as well as other Canadian and international directors and storytellers.

The Festival curates films which contextualize and celebrate queer lives and experiences.

We prioritize foregrounding diverse identities in our communities, including narratives from trans people, queer people of colour, and Indigenous people.

– Out In Schools is an award winning education program that uses queer film to spark dialogue to challenge homophobia and promote inclusion.

Since its inception in 2004, we have reached more than 120,000 youth and adults across BC.

We acknowledge that we are a historically settler-led organization.

In recognition of this, Out On Screen is reviewing our commitment to being in right relations with local First Nations, with the intention of re-establishing what that work looks like and how we show up in the work of decolonization.

Likewise, we acknowledge that we have a responsibility to ensure our internal practices align with our external presentations, and that all staff and volunteers must feel safe, seen, and supported in their work.

In furthering this responsibility, Out On Screen undertakes Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion processes aimed at building better working conditions for all staff and volunteers.
