Communications and Engagement Manager

Together we are building happier and healthier lives for children across the world in Africa, Asia, and the Americas. We’re currently in search of an experienced Communications and Engagement Manager to join our team. If you’re looking for an opportunity to contribute your knowledge, skills and passion to a charity whose dynamic partnerships support life-changing transformation for children, look no further.  About the Position: As our new Communications and Engagement Manager, your focus will be to design and implement Transforming Faces’ communications and fundraising strategies.   Your role will encompass four primary functions, including external communications and engagement, fundraising and donor stewardship, proposal development, and public education.   Practically speaking, your tasks will include: * Developing and deploying the organization’s marketing, public engagement, and communications strategy* Coordinating the design and production of all public-facing communications such as our annual report, newsletters and  promotional materials* Managing our website and social media presence* Establishing direction for our advertising strategy* Managing relationships with our marketing suppliers and vendors* Targeting annual fundraising goals and priorities, and coordinating resource development activities such as grant proposals and corporate sponsorship appeals* Cultivating relationships and designing recognition strategies for existing donors, as well as identifying and soliciting new donors* Designing event strategies, overseeing third-party fundraising events, and developing fundraising presentations* Engaging the media and public in educational initiatives related to Comprehensive Cleft Care (CCC), including the Caring for Cleft podcast and representing our organization at events* Supporting our international Circle of Cleft Professionals (CoCP) network* Researching and maintaining a database of potential grant opportunities, liaising with our project team to write grants and fulfill reporting requirements, and maintaining a calendar of grant deadlines to ensure timely submissions For the right person, this role offers an exciting opportunity to shape and implement Transforming Faces’ marketing and public engagement strategies.   Our team is exceptionally open to new ideas and ways of doing things – we will encourage you to bring all your ideas to the table and experiment, so together we can learn what works best. You’ll bring your growth mindset to any task you take on.   Working with Transforming Faces We’re a small staff team – just seven of us! – with an engaged Board and long-term field partners. We’re all passionate about what we do. We are motivated by our mission and inspired by our model of international partnership and vision that no child will experience exclusion because of their cleft. This is a full-time permanent position with a target start date of January 2020. In addition to a competitive annual salary starting at 48,000-58,000k, we offer 4 weeks’ paid vacation, 5% pension matching, and pay in lieu of benefits.  Our bright and open office is conveniently located along bustling College Street in Toronto, and highly accessible by transit.  Qualifications * 3+ years’ experience in a similar communications, marketing, or engagement role* Excellent English writing skills with demonstrated experience developing communications and marketing collateral* Experience with fundraising and donor stewardship* Experience working with (and managing relationships with) external vendors/consultants. Cross-cultural experience an asset.* Strong technical skills, with experience with website and social media management, WordPress, and Google Suite* Experience in a charity organization with international partnership would be a plus, but not required* Post-secondary degree/diploma and/or any relevant professional certificate (e.g. international development, fundraising, professional writing, etc.)* Speaking a second international language would be an asset* Please include a writing sample with your application documents, or link to a portfolio of work that demonstrates your effective written communication skills. How to Apply Our online application will give you the option to apply to this role as a complete person – not just a resume.
