AZ Professional Driver Trainer


This is a Contract position in Toronto, ON posted April 18, 2022.

AZ Professional driver trainer AZ Professional Driver Trainer must have a strong eagerness to share their experience and expertise as an AZ Truck driver with new drivers to the industry and reintroduce the industry to drivers.

The Driver Trainer is responsible for identifying issues, providing recommendations, and working with the safety department, drivers, and management.

Duties and responsibility responsibilities include, but are not limited to, reviewing SOPs, training, orientation, onboarding, partaking in accident and injury investigations.

The Driver Trainer is responsible for completing on-the-job training utilizing set evaluation forms with their trainees and providing on-the-job training utilizing set evaluation forms with their trainees and providing daily training and coaching throughout their trip.

The Driver Trainer will observe all employees’ safety and operational compliance on-site and off-site to ensure compliance with DOT & MTO regulations.

The Driver Trainer will be responsible for recommending countermeasures to improve further training for individuals, identifying problems, and providing guidance to enhance further training for an individual and the entire safety & operational onboarding and training programs.

Essential Job Functions (other duties may be assigned):
– Uses all available technical resources to monitor DOT, MTO, C-TPAT/PIP, and company policies in accordance with State, Provincial, and Federal law; ensures compliance during training, observations, and evaluations; communicate compliance issues immediately to Safety
– Complete road tests, road evaluations, and on-the-job training with drivers; apprentices, journeymen, and master drivers
– Review road evaluations with safety
– Input driver evaluations into their respective dashboard
– Participate in accident, injury, and near-miss investigations and provide insight on countermeasures, including training
– Have working knowledge in all areas of business; operational
– Thorough understanding of all aspects of the PeopleNet system
– Provide training with all employees for inspections on major and minor defect
– Review driver SOPs on a yearly or as-needed basis for accuracy and provide solutions for improvement
– Assist dispatch while on duty with questions or concerns they require further assistance on
– Monitor and ensure that staff and drivers follow company procedures, instructions, policies and follow customer requirements and expectations
– Participate in corrective action reports for service nonconformances that are detected
– Be part of a team environment focused on achieving business objectives
– Work with management to develop action plans for when service KPIs are not meeting the required targets;
– Identify potential service issues and develop troubleshooting measures to address them proactively
– Demonstrate leadership and communicate a commitment to quality
– Ensure all employees are instructed in safe work practices and that work is carried out in a safe manner
– Assist management and JHSC in addressing reported unsafe acts and conditions, accidents, and injuries and inform employees of the existence of any potential or actual risk to their Health and Safety
– Ensure ongoing communication and follow up with peers, drivers, other departments, fellow suppliers, and our customers
– Ensure we act with respect, courtesy, and professionalism towards our peers, drivers, fellow suppliers, and our customers Periodic Job Functions:

– Other work-related duties as assigned Minimum Requirements (education, experience, skills, licenses, and/or certifications):
– High school or equivalent
– Problem-solving abilities
– Ability to adjust shift and start times as needed
– Excellent communication and organization skills
– AZ license
– Clean Abstract
– 10 AZ Driving Experience in Transportation
– 2 Years in Driver Training Experience is an asset
– Basic PC skills
– Thorough knowledge of ELD systems
– Thorough knowledge of HOS
– Creative analytical skills are a must
– Possession of a Driver Trainer Certificate and Air Brake Instructors Certificate, equivalent to the standard required by the Ministry of Transportation as a Signing Authority a strong asset
