Sales Manager – Giftware, Home Decor and Home Accessories

Job Description

PeopleFind Inc has been commissioned to find a Sales Manager for a national distributor of giftware, home décor and home accessories.

Total compensation is up to 85K per annum

– commensurate with experience. A background in giftware, Home décor and home accessories is desirable. People with related experience will be considered if they can demonstrate an understanding of fashion tends and have a strong sense of style.

Reporting to the President, your task will be to continuously analyze and assess the business and inspire the national sales team, retail clients and commercial users with your knowledge of the business based on performance and national trends.

Many lines are exclusive to the company and beautiful new lines are constantly acquired adding to the excitement in selling and buying. The successful candidate will have an enviable track record of sales achievement, sales management and sales administration and be able to demonstrate an affinity for the giftware, home décor and home accessories categories. The Central Office is in the Toronto area with easy access to all modes of transportation. The future is positive as our client has an enviable track record of growth and this position will segue into the Director of National Sales position within two to three years.


Meet/exceed sales objectives. Sales support and sales administration. Sales and marketing communication.

Sales training.

Respond to special account needs.

Resolve account issues.

Find solutions for areas experiencing sales deficiencies. Use business intelligence reports to conduct sales analysis and distribute reports / findings to management.

Attend trade shows – participate in selling, showroom set-up, and working with sales representatives and customers. Attend vendor strategic sales meetings, maintain supplier relations and build goodwill. Interview and hire new sales rep candidates. Terminate underperforming sales representatives. Develop sales programs and incentives to promote increased revenue. Motivate cultivate and incent rep performance. Provide leadership and direction to the field representatives on establishing new market opportunities. Some in-territory travel and store visits.

Organize the bi-annual National Sales Meetings with the Sales & Marketing Coordinator.


Our client seeks to hire a Sales Manager who will have experience within the gift, home décor, furniture or related industries.

Knowledge of the culture and experience managing sales with independent retailers and small chains will be an asset.

The right candidate will have all of the following characteristics:

A sense of sophistication, a natural and dynamic leader, focused, energetic,

Driven to succeed, objective driven, analytical with a sound knowledge of Microsoft applications – e.g. Excel, Powerpoint (presentations) and outlook.

Excellent communication and team building skills.

A personal passion for style and trend, and a sense of trend in colour.

A flexible schedule enabling travel to trade shows within the USA 6 or 7 times a year, travel in three day periods to work with sales reps and meet clients in provinces outside Ontario – generally once a year per region outside Ontario and some travel within Ontario is a requisite to be able to do this job effectively.


Base salary plus bonus. Potential to generate $85,000 per annum in total income is realistic.
