Human Resources Coordinator

Position Overview

Aecon is well-positioned in the Canadian marketplace as an industry leader in the development and construction of infrastructure. We have a roster of ongoing major projects here and abroad, record backlog diversified across multiple sectors and duration, and a robust pipeline of future project pursuits. We are in a strong market position, but we are ultimately aiming higher.

Reporting to the HR Manager, Operational Services, the HR Coordinator will be responsible for providing support in HR operational activities for the national HR team, such as, program administration, HR process development, policy governance, HR communications, and other transactional activities supporting the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administration and coordination support with programs and initiatives within the COE or business unit that is requiring support.
  • Support policy reviews and governance to ensure compliance with any changes in legislature and provide guidance with any interpretation and clarification required by the HR teams or business.
  • Recognize business needs, engage, and collaborate with HR teams when new projects or requests are made.
  • Creatively bring ideas to life, design and develop appropriate content for the selected delivery method.
  • Gather feedback to ensure the evolution of programs and tools meet evolving business needs.
  • Assist with both internal and external auditing requirements to ensure full compliance as per the set-out guidelines (i.e., AODA).
  • Develop effective stakeholder communication for any HR initiatives.
  • Prepare and update documents, templates, process flows and other relevant materials as required.
  • Liaise with external vendors and internal stakeholders such as HR team members to promote or enhance related HR projects, programs or initiatives.
  • Support cross-functional teams in solving complex issues.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Post-secondary education with a major in Human Resources or related field.
  • 2+ years’ experience within Human Resources.
  • Exceptional organization, attention to detail, and emerging project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deliverables.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly communicate with various audiences, stakeholders, and end users.
  • Experience with SAP and Success Factors is an asset.
  • Excellent analytical, trouble shooting skills.
  • Strong customer service skills with the proven ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with team members as well as internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability using MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint) with a strong ability using Excel.
  • Ability to successfully navigate a fast-paced, complex, and changing work environment, while managing multiple and shifting priorities.
  • Bilingual in French & English an asset.
