Account Manager (Experiential / Shopper Marketing)

This is a Contract position in Toronto, ON posted February 7, 2019.


You are a proactive marketing guru who possesses a thorough understanding of branding, marketing, business, retail/shopper marketing & culture as it relates to consumer goods. You are imaginative in devising bold strategies, new product & brand concepts, innovative solutions and creative work.  You are a determined individual who excels at building relationships and working in a team environment.  Excellent leadership skills allow you to communicate effectively to your account team in order to achieve set goals and deadlines.


The main purpose of this position is to manage and execute projects within a total brand activation plan, across a full spectrum of marketing channels.  This position involves working with multiple internal and external stakeholder groups, managing several concurrent projects, and direct reports.


Business Development & Maintenance

  • Maintain current business through flawless execution in accordance with the needs and plans of the brand
  • Build and manage business relationships with all key clients and key stakeholders through all functions at the client’s location and beyond;
  • Act as a “consultant” to any business channel (existing and new) on the development and potential success of proposed events and promotions by drawing on insights based on past experiences.
  • Support with determining client needs to develop and execute a client development plan that supports the strategy for the account(s) and deliver solutions for the client.
  • Responsible for the adherence of all contract specifications and successfully implement client contracts by accurately communicating goals and objectives to the account team, and ensuring all targets are met.
  • Collaborate with clients to implement program changes and effectively communicate those changes to the account team.
  • Continuously provide thorough knowledge, insight and communication to the client(s) to ensure all facets are being covered and objectives and expectations are being met.


Sponsorship & Event Management

  • Support regional sales & brand team by leading assigned Tier 1 Sponsorships across all channels – including full planning, ideation, execution and assessment stages
  • Support execution of all national sponsorship and brand activations (i.e. sports, concerts)
  • Support National brand team with key customer events & promotions
  • Liaise with all internal key stakeholders on an ongoing basis to ensure an excellent product that meets and/or exceeds the needs for corporate responsibility, risk management, legal affairs, procurement, etc.

Team Management & Leadership

  • Manage/mentor up to 2 Coordinators both at a project management and a people development level;
  • Work cross functionally to ensure compliance and awareness of key client policies, procedures and mandates while, at the same time, ensuring that activities and job functions carried out by Sponsorship & Event staff members are successful
  • Attend and participate in all required team meetings.  Lead brainstorming sessions, as assigned.
  • Meet with the CSD/M regularly to discuss program(s) and individual performance and development
  • Work well with, and demonstrate respect for, collleagues at all levels of the Company to consistently contribute to a positive work environment and culture
  • Follow all Company Policies & Procedures and uphold SDI’s corporate vision and core values. 

Financial Management

  • Manage all assigned program budgets from development, SOX compliance, planning & execution as well as post-execution budget reconciliation through SAP;
  • Work on an ongoing basis with all direct reports to ensure balance of personal Cost Centres and multiple client credit cards;



  • Experience as a Brand Manager / Associate Brand Manager a strong asset
  • CPG and Shopper Marketing experience
  • Experience managing content production
  • Introductory knowledge of media planning and buying
  • Excellent planning, organizational, verbal and written communications skills
  • Flexible and able to multitask; can work within a fast-moving environment
  • Goal oriented, task driven
  • Excellent managerial, leadership, client service, analytical, problem solving and mentoring skills
  • Strong budget, critical path management and Salesforce skills
  • Proficient computer skills in Salesforce & Microsoft Office.



  • Post-Secondary degree or diploma with a focus in business and/or marketing, or equivalent 
  • 5-7 years’ experiential marketing industry experience
  • 3-5 years’ experience as an Account Manager, or equivalent.
  • Min 2 years’ team management experience
  • Valid passport for national &/or international travel, as required.
  • Flexible work schedule – must be available evenings and weekends.
