Institute Overview

The Royal Canadian Military Institute (RCMI) is renowned for its academic roundtables, Canadian military library, museum collections, and social programs.

Along with its Institute programmes, the RCMI also houses a member services branch within its organization where members can enjoy dining, conference, fitness, and bedroom facilities. With the recent completion of an exciting redevelopment project, the RCMI has a brand new facility and is ready to expand its team with motivated, high-achieving, and results-oriented professionals.

Position Summary

The RCMI is seeking enthusiastic and creative individuals to take on the role of Cook 2. This individual will strive to consistently offer professional, friendly and proactive service while supporting fellow colleagues. The 2nd Cook must be able to focus on essential tasks in a busy environment working in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Preparation, cooking and plating of all items at assigned station
  • Detailed knowledge of all daily and weekly menu specials as well as regular menu items
  • Ensure dishes are being prepared to the correct specifications, quantity & quality and are correctly seasoned
  • Responsible for ensuring all food storage and culinary tasks are performed according to RCMI standards and safe food handling procedures
  • Demonstrate a strict commitment to minimizing costs without compromising quality
  • Versatility to execute casual and fine dining experiences concurrently, serving buffet stations as needed

 

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of kitchen experience with a solid background in food preparation, private club or hotel an asset
  • Multi-tasker in a high paced environment
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including: weekends, holidays and special events, irregular days off and start times
  • Food Handlers Certificate An Asset
