Program Coordinator, Girls At Bat Term: 1-year Contract Position, Full Time Salary: $18.00/hr GIRLS AT BAT PROGRAM: Girls At Bat (GAB) is a baseball for development initiative designed to help girls across the country set lofty goals and pursue them with tenacity.

As many as 62% of Canadian girls are not participating in any kind of sport (Canadian Women & Sport, The Rally Report, 2020).

We also know that if a girl hasn’t participated in sport by age 10, there is only a 10% chance that she will be physically active as an adult.

Research on what motivates girls has demonstrated that we can curb these trends if we change the way we engage girls in sports programs at an early age.

Jays Care Foundation is looking to change this bleak trend by partnering with communities and organizations to help increase female participation rates and address the issue of low retention and a lack of access to girls-centered sport environments.

In this program, baseball is used as a tool to enhance social and emotional skills while focusing on creating the safest spaces possible that instill a sense of belonging.

Our ultimate goals are to increase connection, courage, leadership and love of sport in all participating athletes.

GIRLS AT BAT PROGRAM COORDINATOR OVERVIEW: Jays Care is looking for a passionate individual with a drive for seeing positive change for youth facing barriers in Canada.

The Girls At Bat Coordinator will be responsible for helping launch, support and inspire exceptional girls-centered, baseball for development programming across the country, both virtually and in-person.

The incumbent should be comfortable with child protection standards in Ontario and be able to work on multiple projects at once.

This role is based in Toronto, ON, however it is currently a temporarily remote position.

As we develop robust virtual programs and training opportunities, we are seeking someone with strong technology skills.

Candidates should have access to a reliable internet connection and a designated workspace.

We encourage candidates to apply who have experience coordinating youth programming and working with children/youth living in historically marginalized communities.

We are seeking diverse perspectives that can add valuable insight to the development of Gender Equity Initiatives.

The 1 goal of the Girls At Bat Program Coordinator is to help ensure that Jays Care programming is as fun, safe, positive and outcome focused as possible.

REPORTS TO: Manager, Gender Equity Programs and Initiatives
– Jays Care Foundation TERM: January 6th, 2021 to December 21st, 2021 JAYS CARE FOUNDATION’S GIRLS AT BAT COORDINATOR CONTRACT is for an individual who is looking to:
– gain valuable work experience in the sport for development sector;
– gain valuable work experience maintaining and building relationships with grassroots organizations;
– learn a tremendous amount and enhance their office, administrative and programmatic skills; and
– work tirelessly to support positive outcomes for children facing barriers.

The Coordinator can expect to partake in a combination of:
– Day-to-day coordination of administrative tasks including updating data bases, captaining program orders, maintaining relationships with suppliers, communicating with program implementors
– Design and creation of communication material for coaches and participants
– Research on best virtual practices, latest statistics, and opportunities for overall program enhancement
– Planning and execution of virtual events for over 100 athletes and coaches
– Planning and facilitation of high quality, creative, virtual workshops and trainings for coaches
– Designing and facilitating dynamic baseball/softball clinics (virtually and in-person) ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:ON-GOING PROGRAM ADMINISTRATION (% of Time: 35%)
– Organize the ordering and shipment of program equipment and coaching resources
– Creation of online program communication tools
– Establish and support processes for online program communication amongst participants and coaches
– Provide on-going support and follow-up communication to partners throughout the program
– Support with the organization of program systems and processes
– Oversee logistics and administrative processes for new program initiatives PLANNING AND EXECUTION OF VIRTUAL EXPERIENCES FOR YOUTH: (% of Time: 20%)
– Support the drafting of communication to participants
– Manage applications/registration process
– Organize and ship pre-celebration/program packages
– Support the design of the event schedule/activities
– utilizing the best virtual platform and practices
– Support the facilitation of dynamic online workshops for children and youth participants
– Help to collect and analyze end-of-event feedback forms
– Follow up communication with participants PLANNING AND EXECUTION OF VIRTUAL COACH TRAININGS: (% of Time: 20%)
– Help to recruit and confirm attendees at programmatic trainings and events
– Help to secure training and event venues and/or virtual training platforms and required training supplies
– Support the drafting of pre-training and event communication
– Support the design of the training schedule
– Support the facilitation of dynamic trainings coaches and front-line staff
– Help to collect and analyze end-of-training feedback form CLINIC FACILITATION: (% of Time: 15%)
– Offer in-person and virtual support to a variety of program implementers, creating and facilitating dynamic and engaging baseball/softball clinics among other topics
– Use a variety of assessment tools to identify the strengths and areas for growth of programs being implemented
– Develop coaching plans to support implementers to enhance the quality of their program RESEARCH AND ENHANCEMENT OF PROGRAM RESOURCES: (% of Time: 10%)
– Review existing program curriculum and offer creative insights to enhance the quality of each resource
– Research best practices for online engagement and connection, including different platforms and strategies for enhanced inclusion
– Help to create/enhance additional resources around youth mentorship and leadership DESIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
– Degree in Social Work, Kinesiology, Equity Studies, or related field i.e.

human services, health or education
– 1 year working with children and/or youth living in historically marginalized communities
– 1 year experience in the field of adaptive recreation and/or sport for development
– Experience organizing and executing multiple administrative tasks/logistics at a given time
– Good demonstration of problem-solving skills and ability to work in a group
– Valid ‘G’ Driver’s License DESIRED ASSETS:
– Strong technology skills with competency in excel, salesforce and different online communication platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Teams)
– Strong written and oral communication skills
– Comfortable leading sessions/workshops in-person and online
– Good demonstration of research abilities
– Willingness to work outside of regular 9-5 schedule and have a flexible schedule
– Excellent interpersonal skills
– Team player and ability to see the big picture goals of the organization and contribute on day-to-day tasks
– Ability to work in high pressure scenarios
– Highly organized, demonstrating strong attention to details when planning
