To learn more about CIBC, please visit Job Description What you’ll be doing As a Chinese Translator and Editor, you’re responsible for translating, reviewing, editing and proofreading content for, ATM, Telephone Banking, Private Wealth Management, Asian Banking and digital channels.

You will also be responsible for reviewing translations, sending revisions to the vendor, obtaining sign off from business partners and testing content implementation for accuracy.

Assignments range in scope from coordinating and revising large projects to quick translation requests.

You will also ensure that Chinese content, where mandated, is kept up-to-date with English and French content.

We’re looking for someone who must be able to work to tight deadlines, have strong attention to detail and exceptional interpersonal skills.

Ideally, this individual is comfortable working within a team with minimal supervision.

You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

How you’ll succeed Proficient in Chinese at a native level: You bring extensive knowledge of written Chinese language that’s backed by a degree in translation or equivalent work experience.

You have strong terminology research skills, awareness of Traditional and Simplified Chinese differences and nuances in Mandarin or Cantonese and good working knowledge of Trados Studio, CAT tools, and terminology databases.

Manage all facets of the Chinese translation process: You’re highly detail and process-oriented.

You manage translation requests in a timely and cost-effective manner, working cooperatively with our partners and vendors.

Take initiative: You’re comfortable juggling multiple priorities with tight deadlines.

You proactively resolve the complexities and ambiguities that arise on projects.

You use your excellent communication, consultation and interpersonal skills to champion the Chinese translation from print materials, telephone banking scripts, to digital content.

Communicate with process insight: Your solid interpersonal skills are a must for collaborating with diverse stakeholders, business leaders, and subject matter experts and internal members such as editors, visual designers, and developers.

You can demonstrate experience or knowledge in: print design, desk-top publishing process, financial and business industry, financial products and services.

The following are considered strong assets: Experience with marketing copywriting, content management systems, familiarity with enterprise project methodologies, and publishing/workflow tools, previous experience working with business analyst, developers and graphic designers.
