Chef / House Manager

This is a Full-time position in Toronto, ON posted May 15, 2018.

Seeking a Chef / House Manager for a young couple in the King West area of Toronto.

The successful applicant will be responsible for the daily cooking as well as the day-to-day running of the residence. This position is full-time, live-out Monday to Friday, 1:00pm – 9:00pm. The ideal applicant should be flexible with schedules to work weekends and travel as required.

Responsibilities

  • Daily cooking required for refined palates; must have knowledge of a variety of different vegetarian cuisines, primarily pescatarian, or a willingness to learn
  • Occasional cooking of meat when the Principals have guests
  • Grocery shopping; knowledge of procuring quality, fresh ingredients
  • Menu planning, track and keep records of menus to avoid repetition of meals
  • Work with the Housekeeper to plan breakfasts and lunches to be served when Principal and his team work at the residence
  • Organizing food supply and kitchen inventory; tracking expenses
  • Maintain a clean kitchen and workspace at all times
  • Management of household consumables inventory, and implementing new organizational strategies
  • Regular errands to include, but not limited to, dry cleaning as well as the receiving and sending of packages
  • Greeting of guests and visitors, answering telephone and taking messages, general mail and correspondence
  • Maintain and keep inventory of Principal’s wine cellar
  • Assist with event planning and execution; food and beverage service
  • Schedule and supervise trades and/or vendors

Skills & Experience

  • Must possess excellent time management skills; be punctual, courteous, possess keen attention to detail and follow through on all projects assigned
  • Must be service oriented, and able to anticipate principals’ and guests’ needs
  • Must have curiosity, passion and dedication to the art of vegetarian cooking
  • Able to adapt to a variety of different palates
  • Tech savvy and computer literate; knowledgeable and experienced with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Must maintain privacy and confidentiality at all times; exercise diplomacy, discretion, and respect boundaries
  • Excellent English language skills and polished professional presentation
  • Must have a valid, clean Ontario driver’s licence (class G)
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
