Maintenance Mold Technician


This is a Contract position in Toronto, ON posted January 2, 2022.

Amcor Rigid Packaging Mold Service Technician Mississauga, Ontario Position Overview: Responsible for maintenance of all production molds and associated tooling for Extrusion, Injection and Decoration machines.

The Mold tech would also assist in the set up and maintenance of the shop equipment and tools necessary to ensure proper maintenance of the molds.

They will maintain all operations in a safe and efficient way and ensure acceptable quality and production requirements, in cooperation with Maintenance department.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties: Verify all safety checks and clearances are completed prior to operation of any equipment Responsible for housekeeping in, on and around the equipment at all times.

Taking extra precaution to eliminate hazards such as slips and trips Adhere to the Company’s set Lock Out Tag Out procedures Responsible for the immediate reporting of any incident involving people and or equipment Ensure completion of all CBT and BSO entries as per KPI Follow all established safety rules and guidelines as outlined in the Employee Handbook, and as stated in the various safety-related training programs.

Understand and communicate all hazards and safety issues to the appropriate personnel.

Properly use all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Have all mold and associated tooling ready as per production schedule Ensure molds are stored and handled/maintained according to Amcor and local standards.

Address any deficiencies through procedure updates, training and collaboration with the team.

Perform Inspection and develop report on all molds and associated tools returned from production, utilizing proper measurement data Maintain Molds and associated tools in a state of readiness as per production schedule Conduct repairs or highlight the need for external intervention for mold and associated tooling repairs Conduct maintenance and repairs to Injection Manifolds (Hot Runners) Maintain a detailed inventory of Amcor and Customer molds and associated tooling for Injection, Extrusion and Decoration Maintain and enter into the appropriate system mold movement external to the plant Maintain and enter into the appropriate system mold movement to the machines as per production requirements Be able to utilize the SAP PM system for Mold Inventory and Maintenance Follow up with vendor on repair requirements Liaise with Production Staff (Lead Hands and QC) to troubleshoot product quality issue from a mold and tooling perspective and provide guidance to the Maintenance Manager and Operations Manager Liaise with CSRs and Amcor Engineering on incoming molds for validation, customer mold defects/upgrades and look ahead for Production Schedule Preparation Evaluate and recommend modifications to process or equipment to improve efficiency and reliability Control an inventory of critical spares Provide appropriate data such a Part numbers and specifications and drawings to assist in corrective type work or procurement Follow all GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) as documented in the policy Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined by the company absentee control program.

Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications: Education: Technical Diploma in Mechanical/Industrial Maintenance, Machine Shop or equivalent experience Experience: 5 years in a related field Knowledge of plastic injection and extrusion and blow mold tooling Competence in Machine shop type tools such as lathes, mills and grinders, etc would be a definite asset Should be versed in utilization of measurement tool such as Inside and Outside Micrometers and Calipers and Vernier Calipers Must be computer literate with a moderate competence in the Microsoft Office Suite Must be able to maintain record, communicate effectively and work independently.

Must be regularly available and willing to work a continuous operation 12 hour shift schedule as the company determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.
