Press Brake Operator

Halton Indoor Climate Systems

This is a Full-time position in Toronto, ON posted March 4, 2019.


The Press Break Operator is responsible for ensuring the metal parts are bent to exact specifications in a timely fashion per the standards of performance set by Halton. Prerequisites include the willingness to teach/learn press break operator techniques to/from others. Operators must be able to read and interpret blue prints. Individuals are required to maintain work area cleanliness, and ensure the safety awareness/practices for self and others in the work place. Furthermore, the press break operator will ensure the quality of work by carrying out corrective actions as needed, and in reporting deviations as observed to the lead hand to ensure changes are made early in the production process


Position general responsibilities are as follows:

Read work orders and production schedules to determine specifications, such as materials to be used location/direction of bend lines, and dimensions and tolerances. Load work pieces and material, into machines. Set up, operate, or tend machines to bend, or straighten metal material. Start machines, monitor their operations, and record operational data. Test and adjust machine speeds and actions, according to product specifications, and using gauges and hand tools. Install, align, and lock specified punches, dies or other fixtures Position, align, and secure work pieces against fixtures or stops on machine beds or on dies. Measure completed work pieces to verify conformance to specifications, using micrometers, gauges, calipers, templates, or rulers. Examine completed work pieces for defects such as chipped edges and marred surfaces, and sort defective pieces according to types of flaws. Clean and lubricate machines

  • Initiative in taking corrective actions
  • Ability to work shifts and overtime when requested
  • Operates equipment in a safe manner, and uses safe work habits and wears PPE
  • Physically fit; Physically able to lift light to moderate weights
  • Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly
  • Must be willing and flexible to rotate to various tasks as required


Work is primarily accomplished on the manufacturing floor. Due to the large size of the product, the press-break operators are required to be constantly working around large pieces of metal i.e. walking, bending up and down, reaching, standing etc.


  • Must be an excellent team player
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and to exercise independent judgment
  • Ability to program components into computerized HMI screens.
  • Excellent oral communication skills in the English language
  • Able to work with minimum supervision in a fast-paced environment
  • Very reliable, responsible, flexible and organized
  • Ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Quality awareness combined with speed


  • Experience using Press Break Machines
  • Experience in a manufacturing plant required

Salary: 21.18$ per hour
