Job Description

We are working on behalf of a client company to find a talented Senior level UI/UX Designer to join their growing team in Toronto.

We are looking for a UI-UX Designer who has experience designing responsive web applications. The requirements for this position will be developing low fidelity wire-frames showing the different user interactions with the system as well as producing high fidelity mock-ups of the web application. Ideally, the UI-UX Designer should have experience designing relatively complex web-based business systems, but not necessary. We are NOT looking for someone who primarily designs web sites. It would be beneficial if the UI/X Designer had some experience doing front end development using HTML/CSS/Bootstrap/Angular2 although this experience is not required.

You MUST have an online portfolio that shows UI/UX experience for web applications. Ideally, your portfolio will show examples of your design artifacts and process.

You will be:

– Partnering with Engineers to oversee the UX and UI of a product from conception to launch.

– You must understand how developers work and know how to work with them.

– Package assets and communicate with the engineering team to implement features

– A vocal, active member of the team to ensure we are constantly raising our standard of work

– Empathy, not ego.

– You should have a process for understanding users and fight to empower them.

– Take a new feature from ideation to implementation, collaborating along the way with the product owner, project manager, marketing strategists, writers, and developers

– Design beautiful, intuitive interfaces that are effortless to use across multiple devices

– Present design solutions to stakeholders, team members, and defend design decisions, and incorporate feedback into the design cycle

– You’re obsessively attentive to details

– Understands workflow automation

– Understand the technical feasibilities of both web and mobile technologies such as different type of browsers, HTML, CSS, Javascript in context to your design decisions.

Knowledge and experience:

– Minimum of 5 years’ experience designing products with an agency, contract work, or as part of an in-house team

– BA/BFA degree or equivalent experience or knowledge.

– You have strong proficiency with design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, or other comparable software

– The ability to write HTML / CSS is preferred, though not required

– Portfolio featuring complex, web-based applications

– Experience designing applications for business users (B2B) desired but not necessary

– Experience in product thinking: you care about understanding business objectives in order to help decide what to build, not only how to build it.

– Ability to think at a high level about a product, not only how it should look but how it should work

– Excellent communication skills.

– You must have a proven ability to convey and debate design rationale.

– You are the person that people can’t wait to collaborate with.

– Solid understanding of user-centered design principles, process, sketching, user journeys, wire framing, design patterns, prototyping and usability testing
