Senior Financial Analyst, Finance Decision Support

Fidelity Clearing Canada (FCC) is the leading independent clearing broker and custodian in the Canadian market. We provide trade execution, clearing, custody and back-office support services to Canadian-based brokerage firms and the Canadian brokerage arms of U.S.-based firms.

Department Overview:

The Finance team is responsible for management reporting, analysis, business planning and special projects for Fidelity Clearing Canada. The team's main focus is to support the business in achieving their objectives by identifying issues, recommending solutions, providing financial transparency and value-added financial assessments. This is achieved by establishing strong ties with various groups across the organization while meeting the needs and interests of all stakeholders.

Role Overview:

The successful individual is an articulate and analytical financial professional who will utilize their technical and relationship building skills to provide support to the Sales and client-facing teams, while managing the needs and interests of many stakeholders including senior management. 

As an integral member of the Finance team, you will be responsible for financial management reporting, financial analysis, business and client performance measurement, business planning and pricing analysis.

What You Will Do:

Financial Analysis and Business Unit Support:

  • Create and continually develop/enhance key reports that capture key measures of success and anticipate future business unit requirements, including management reports, variance analysis, and revenue analytics.

  • Proactive support of the cost allocation process – this includes the design, compilation, review and implementation of various financial models. 

  • Support the Sales team with pricing analysis and client metrics and revenue reporting

  • Conduct and document financial and economic analysis projects to help drive business decisions.

  • Lead various value enhancing initiatives as directed by the firm’s business unit leaders including the analysis and presentation of the firm’s performance.

  • Full ownership over regular weekly/monthly reporting, including the ongoing evaluation of opportunities to further develop the efficiency and effectiveness of reports in order to meet stakeholder and business needs

  • Involvement with other ad-hoc analysis and special projects as required

Business Planning, Budgeting and Financial Reporting:

  • Support the annual business planning and budgeting process while providing overall financial stewardship, expense management and support for other ad hoc projects.

  • Support the development and reporting of appropriate key performance indicators / success measures and develop post implementation assessments against the relevant measures.

  • Adhoc assistance with preparation of board reporting and quarterly business reviews.

Focus on Process:

  • Manages a process to high quality and efficiency standards and determines the necessary inputs and outputs to meet customer needs.

  • Constantly assesses processes and works with cross-functional groups for improvement opportunities.

  • Takes ownership for ensuring all work and/or processes are documented.

What We Are Looking For:

  • University degree with a focus in business, preferably accounting, economics, commerce, finance, or mathematics / statistics.

  • CPA (CA, CGA, CMA) designation preferred (or working towards or completed other professional designations such as CFA, or MBA).

  • More than 3 years of experience working in a financial analyst capacity with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in financial analysis and modeling and reporting (financial services industry experience preferred).

Expertise You Bring:

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate financial concepts into business terminology and effectively present to senior management.

  • Ability to manage relationships across the full spectrum of management levels. 

  • Ability to influence others, adapt recommendations/presentations to suit a particular audience and respond to questions/objections successfully.

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft applications, especially in Excel and PowerPoint.  Experience with VBA is considered an asset.

  • Ability to develop financial models, conduct sensitivity analysis, and communicate results in written and verbal formats.

Given the current circumstances, employee will be working from home, 100% of time. As working conditions return to normal, they will shift to a hybrid working arrangement.
