Pandemic Assistant

This is a Contract position in Toronto, ON posted June 5, 2021.

Job Description Pandemic Assistant, Occupational Health & Safety Temporary Full-time (Approximately 6 Months) The Pandemic Assistant is responsible for supporting and implementing COVID-19 surveillance guidelines applicable to Health Care Workers in Ontario and following York Region Public Health (YRPH) protocols for all staff at Mackenzie Health.

As part of the Occupational Health and Safety team, the incumbent will provide confidential administrative support in a dynamic environment, and will function with a high degree of attention to details, quality, accuracy while performing the following: Respond to inquiries from staff/physicians/volunteers of Mackenzie Health and external stakeholders based on the current surveillance protocols and YRPH related guidelines in person, over the phone or via email Conduct contact tracing for COVID-19 positive testing staff Follow up on community and work-related exposures to probable and confirmed COVID-19 cases Support outbreak management process Coordinate point prevalence testing for staff on the outbreak units and follow up with test results Liaise with YRPH regarding staff exposure, contact tracing and outbreak management Monitor, educate and audit of social distancing to hospital staff Enter data and compile compliance reports as required This role will focus on maintaining strict adherence to COVID-19 Public Health guidelines and directives to ensure staff health and safety.

What must you have?

Successful completion of a Business Administrative Diploma or related discipline from a recognized Community College.

What else do you bring?

Knowledge of medical terminology.

Advanced computer skills, including advanced knowledge of the MS Office Suite, such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a professional telephone manner.

Strong customer service skills with an ability to effectively manage multiple priorities with competing priorities.

Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.

Able to work effectively independently and as member of a team in a busy and varied environment.

Excellent organizational, planning and coordination skills.

Self-directed, detail oriented and dependable.

Collaborative and solutions focused.

Proven attendance record.

Demonstrates understanding and complies with patient and staff safety policies and procedures that foster a safe and inclusive environment for all.

Ability to perform the essential duties of the job.

Effectively uses empathy in interactions with others and demonstrates behaviours consistent with Mackenzie Health’s Commitment to Caring.

Preferably, your profile also includes: 1-year relevant experience in an advanced administrative capacity in a healthcare setting.

Working knowledge of surveillance guidelines and point prevalence testing.

Experience in Occupational Health and Safety or Public Health.

Working knowledge of Parklane System.
