Established in 1987, Fidelity Investments Canada Inc. (FIC), provides Canadian investors with a full range of mutual funds, ETFs and alternative funds. Fidelity funds are available through a number of advice-based distribution channels, including financial planners, investment dealers, banks and insurance companies. FIC manages over $168 billion (CAD) in mutual fund and institutional assets, as at December 15, 2020. This includes $41 billion in assets for institutional clients, including public and corporate-defined benefit pension plans, endowments, foundations and corporate assets on behalf of clients across Canada. The Investment Management team focuses on research analysis and delivering strong returns, and is comprised of portfolio managers, research analysts, traders and more. FIC has more than 1000 full time employees and is headquartered in Toronto, with regional offices in Montreal, Calgary and Vancouver.

What You Will Do

This position, reporting to the Vice President, Finance requires an individual with strong analytical and influence skills and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities. The candidate should have experience in a Finance organization (particularly providing finance support to business units).  Your responsibilities include business planning and analysis, performance measurement and scorecards, management reporting, and forecasting for Fidelity Canada’s fund operations line of business including client services, information systems and fund oversight divisions.

  • With the support of a dedicated team, provide ongoing and ad hoc finance support to the business units that comprise the fund operations activities of the company (client services, information systems and fund oversight divisions)

  • Lead the business planning and budgeting process for the fund operations business units.

  • Lead the development of the fund operations management reporting framework including the development, and tracking, of key performance indicators and measures of success.

  • Conduct advanced analysis and understand the drivers and issues impacting business unit performance.

  • Develop a strong relationship with senior management team and become integral to their decision making process.

  • Proactively seek out opportunities to drive the business forward.

  • Support various value enhancing initiatives, including analysis of business performance metrics/drivers, pricing and business opportunity evaluation, and operational efficiency and effectiveness measures/analysis.

  • Take a lead role in benchmarking and consulting surveys.

  • Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities as needed.

  • Ensure analysis provided to senior management is actionable and helps drive business decisions. This analysis must be timely, carefully balancing the need for additional detail and the timely delivery of the information

  • Exhibit financial stewardship

What We Are Looking For

  • University degree, with concentration in Business, Accounting, or Finance preferred

  • Completion of, or working toward, a financial/accounting designation (CPA, CFA, MBA)

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in reporting preferably in the financial services industry

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in managing a team of up to 3 people

  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills

  • Experience in mutual fund or financial services industry an asset

  • You possess excellent technical skills (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, etc).

  • You have a track record of working effectively across groups even when they have divergent goals or conflicting interests.

  • You have proven capabilities to lead a team and encourage and support staff development

  • You demonstrate an ability to invoke change and challenge the status quo

Given the current circumstances, the resource will be working from home, 100% of time. As working conditions return to normal, they will be expected to be onsite.
