Fraud Manager

Job Description

Given the current circumstances, employee will be working from home, 100% of time. As working conditions return to normal, they will shift to a hybrid working arrangement.

Current work authorization for Canada is required for all openings.

Business Overview:

Under the Fund Oversight Division, Fidelity Risk Management Department provides services that assist management in proactively identifying and monitoring risks for all aspects of Fidelity’s business.

What You Will Do:

Reporting to the Director of Risk Management, the Fraud Manager is expected to develop a fraud risk management framework, lead investigations to identify, assess, manage, respond and report on activity that indicates an exposure to financial crime (“fraud”), ensures potential threats and investigations are proactively evaluated, documented, managed and escalated by following standard operating procedures, and provide subject matter expertise and advisory services to proactively ensure strong internal controls are in place to mitigate against fraud.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain Fraud Risk Management Policy, standards, related procedures, methodologies and guidelines, focusing on establishing sound and effective fraud risk management practice at Fidelity;

  • Investigate potential and confirmed cases of fraud, seeking recovery of any losses and advising relevant business units of control enhancements to prevent reoccurrences;

  • Build effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders (e.g. law enforcement agencies and other Financial Institutions to collaborate in investigations);

  • Work effectively in partnership with other oversight and investigative functions, such as Corporate Security, IT Risk, Legal and Internal Audit;

  • Prepare reports for senior management in respect of investigative findings;

  • Provide subject matter expertise and advisory services to proactively ensure strong internal controls are in place to mitigate against fraud;

  • Recommend and implement solutions based on analysis of issues;

  • Participate in industry working groups in respect of fraud prevention and investigative best practice;

  • Develop and maintain general fraud awareness training for the organizations and provides targeted face-to-face training for front-line employees.

What We Are Looking For:

  • University degree graduate

  • A minimum of 5+ years of experience in the field

  • Knowledge of financial services products, processes and industry

  • Experience of fraud or other financial crime investigations

  • Operational risk management related experience would be an asset

  • Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to make sound decisions

  • Works independently and regularly handles non-routine situations

  • Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems
