Business Overview:

Fidelity Canada Internal Audit provides independent and objective assurance and business advisory services in alignment to the organizational strategy and vision that help Fidelity Canada to manage risk, improve customer service, enhance overall organizational value and business performance, and promote a risk culture of proactive enterprise risk management.  This mission is accomplished through assessing and critically evaluating the effectiveness of controls and governance systems, as well as the adequacy of, and compliance with, regulatory obligations, internal strategies, policies, processes and reporting procedures; reporting on issues and solutions that improve Fidelity Canada’s control environment; promoting best practices, continuous enhancements and improvement of financial, operational controls, processes and system capabilities; and responding to change with a sense of urgency through continuous risk assessment and resource allocation. 

Role Overview:

The Audit Manager Sr will report directly to the Vice President of Internal Audit in Canada.  In this role, you will deliver assurance and business advisory engagements as part of a wider team to ensure the organization’s risk management, governance and internal control processes are operating effectively and that risks are mitigated.  You will be required to participate in the planning and execution of business and integrated audit assignments in line with the agile auditing methodology, communicate issues and findings to management, propose solutions for business improvements, follows-up on corrective actions and produce presentation to various Senior Management, Audit Committees and Board of Directors.  You will also need to develop effective and trusting working relationships and collaborate closely with internal and external business partners. 

Additionally, the Audit Manager Sr. provides leadership, guidance, and direction to other audit team members and works closely with the Audit Vice President to ensure consistency and adequacy of audit coverage provided to Fidelity Canada.  You will also be working closely with the Canada Technology and Data Analytics leads within our agile audit team, with an opportunity to work with the broader FIL Internal Audit team. 

What you Will Do:

  • Perform on-going dynamic entity risk assessments and deliver business and integrated audit assignments to ensure the organization’s risk management, governance and internal control processes are operating effectively and that risks are mitigated.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of audit assignments in line with the audit methodology, communicate issues and findings to management, produce findings and draft reports for presentation to various Senior Management, Audit Committees and Board of Directors.
  • Interact with management and business partners to identify appropriate data sources and data elements required for analytics and build repeatable processes around gaining access to all required data necessary to support data analytics efforts regarding annual risk assessments, audits and advisory engagements.
  • Support the department initiative to drive the integration of data analytics into audits and projects by identifying, designing, and developing data analytics extract routines to support audit activities testing, applying professional skepticism when assessing data sources and validating the completeness and accuracy of data received. 
  • Manage data extraction, storage, transformation, and processing through data analytics routines, and enhance departmental and audit project reporting by incorporating relevant data profiling and visualizations.
  • Develop effective and trusting working relationships with internal and external business partners.
  • Participate in activities or special projects related to systems development and analysis of new policies and processes to ensure that control considerations are evaluated in the early stages of these activities.
  • Participate in relevant agile ceremonies and facilitate as a scrum master during the course of the year.

What We Are Looking For:

  • BS/BA in finance or accounting or equivalent experience
  • Internal Audit, Accountancy, or IT qualification / accreditation or to be studying for one
  • Preferable to have completed, or in the process of completing relevant Canadian Securities Course or Canadian Investment Funds Course
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience of external and internal audit or audit-related experience, preferably in financial services, in the wealth management industries
  • Knowledge and prior experience in auditing one or more of: asset manager, investment management (trading, private placements, portfolio management, investment compliance, and investment risks), models, capital market, brokerage  and clearing house, digital assets and other financial instruments (e.g., derivatives, ETFs, alternatives), ESG (strongly desired)
  • Familiarity with data analytics, visualization, and reporting software (PowerBI, JIRA, Tableau, and audit analytics software and tools (e.g., Python, SAS, Excel, Access, and/or Microsoft SQL)
  • Experience of auditing systems development and/or delivery projects and digital technology and processes (strongly desired)

The Expertise you Bring:

  • Strong quantitative, analytical, data-intuition, and problem-solving skills, and proficiency in data analytics techniques.
  • Knowledge of risks and controls associated with products and regulatory requirements (MFDA, IIROC, OSC) across asset management is desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) to communicate clearly and concisely at all levels.
  • Critical thinker with effective influencing and ability to think outside the box.
  • Flexible, adaptable and ability to multi-task and quickly respond and adapt effectively to changing business needs and priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build effective relationships and clearly articulate thoughts and ideas.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills to manage concurrent projects, drive performance, and meet deadlines.
  • Team player and leader who works constructively with others to achieve team goals.

Given the current circumstances, employee will be working from home, 100% of time. As working conditions return to normal, they will have a hybrid working arrangement.
