Pharmacy Technician II – Technical Practice Leader

Your Opportunity: AHS has an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician II.

Reporting to the Technical Practice Manager, the Pharmacy Technician II (TPL) works independently, as well as in collaboration with the Technical Practice team.

You will require application of in-depth knowledge and expertise to act as a resource for pharmacy management and staff with the ability to complete responsibilities in a fast paced and busy environment.

As the successful TPL you will lead teams that collaborate with pharmacy operations and operations managers to develop and implement best practice standards and guidelines for the role, scope of practice and experiential learning of pharmacy technicians and pharmacy assistants, to aid sites with alignment to national and provincial standards.

You will also develop plans, executes project work, and assesses the direction for meeting changing needs of technical practice.

Participating in strategic site level process improvement projects you will have the ability to translate complex concepts into understandable and practical components, creating positive change.

As the successful TPL, you will act as a liaison with key stakeholders and leaders internal and external to Alberta Health Services.

You will be responsible for advancing the practice of pharmacy technicians within AHS, as a role model, coach and mentor by teaching, inspiring and building confidence in others.

It is a vital that you are an excellent communicator, with strong verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated decision making ability, critical thinking skills, who is able to provide out of the box solutions.

You will have a proven ability to lead and manage change with the ability to prioritize workload and multiple projects on an ongoing basis to meet the needs of a dynamic work environment.

Description: The Pharmacy Technician II is recognized as an expert technical practitioner who is accountable for guiding the development, implementation, evaluation and ongoing management of identified projects and programs to standardize and advance pharmacy technician practice and assistant training materials.

The Pharmacy Technician II will identify innovative solutions and provide advice and direction for solving problems related to pharmacy technical practice and pharmacy operational processes.

Active registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) as a Pharmacy Technician.

A minimum of 5 years’ experience in hospital pharmacy practice.

Additional Required Qualifications: Minimum 3 years’ technical or operational management experience.

Experience with Microsoft Office suite.

Pharmacy software programs.

Preferred Qualifications: PTSA membership is an asset.

Experience in a large complex organization.

Project Management experience.

Change management experience.
