Pharmacy Manager in Northern Canada

This is a Full-time position in Toronto, ON posted December 4, 2017.

Job Title: Pharmacy Manager

RPI is looking for a Pharmacy Manager to work in Northern Canada for 120k-135K salary. The successful candidate will be working Mon-Fri 10AM-6PM (with a 1-hour closure for lunch) but additional hours may be required by the job from time to time. There will be 4 weeks vacation, a retention bonus of $15,000 each year on the anniversary of employment, a performance bonus = eligible for annual performance bonus based on achievement of assigned targets – target payout up to max of 30% of base salary.

1. Housing = provided by company – paid for in form of a housing allowance; rent is then deducted

  • Housing is fully furnished with basic furniture and appliances (except DVD player, stereo, home computer)· Basic utilities (heat, electricity, water, sewer, basic telephone) are included – employee responsible for long distance telephone, cable/satellite, internet, etc.· Housing must be made available to relief pharmacists covering vacation

3. Relocation expenses a. Initial transportation expenses to get to store location paid as a forgivable loan which is amortized over the duration of work term b. Moving allowance = $500 for a single person; $1000 for a couple/family
4. Licensing costs – we will cover licensing as well as to maintain current license and liability insurance
5.Continuing education – $750 annually towards professional education may be submitted for reimbursement

As a pharmacy manager, you will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations of the pharmacy. Your duties involve producing, preparing and compounding prescriptions, overseeing the ordering of all equipment and supplies needed, and ensuring the establishment and maintenance of records. You must also have up-to-date knowledge on all newly certified drugs and their prescribed uses, and it’s your duty to provide information on new medications to subordinates, interns, nurses or physicians.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Program, direct, review, and rectify pharmacy procedures.
  • Render assistance to the technical and professional personnel in mixing, compounding and dispensing of various medications utilized by and sold to hospital patients.
  • Make formal requests for all supplies needed.
  • Familiarize self with current new pharmaceutical preparations prescribed for utilization by patients to be able to render assistance to hospital staff.
  • Set up and maintain a certified system of keeping records and the preparation of yearly budgets.
  • Oversee the organization of inventories.
  • Establish and support pharmacy services in line with state and federal requirements.
  • Design and organize job descriptions and prepare annual performance evaluation on all employees in a prompt manner.
  • Support supervising staff with the annual budget and hand over capital expenditures in line with standard policies.
  • Evaluate and improve manual of Policy and Procedure every year.
  • Institute and implement enhancement of quality for the department.
  • Perform selection of departmental staff and give orientation and supervision, as well as dismissal when necessary.
  • Plan, administer, organize, and successfully implement all activities in relation to the pharmacy operations.
  • Provide guidance on medications and prescriptions and over-the-counter drugs in line with hospital policies.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Licensed Pharmacist
  • Bachelor of Pharmacy Degree or Phar.D. required
  • Previous Pharmacy Management experience is preferred
  • Good working knowledge of Pharmacy operating systems (i.e Kroll, Nexxsys)
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Great organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team setting
