Pharmacy Assistant (3 Month Contract, Northern ON)

Duration: November 1st, 2017- February 1st

 

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual who is looking to help provide assistance to patients and delivering excellent health service to community in Northern ON. You will also have the chance to develop your skills in the healthcare industry by working in a positive dynamic environment!

The system in use is Kroll, and we are a fairly busy pharmacy. We do not administer methadone, but we do have a blister packing system in place. So prior knowledge will be considered an asset, but not necessary.

 

Pharmacy Assistant Job Duties:

Helps health care providers and patients by greeting them in person and by phone; answering questions and requests; referring inquiries to the pharmacist.Maintains pharmacy inventory by checking pharmaceutical stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed medications and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt; removing outdated drugs.Maintains a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.Organizes medications for pharmacist to dispense by reading medication orders and prescriptions; preparing labels; calculating quantities; assembling intravenous solutions and other pharmaceutical therapies.Maintains records by recording and filing physicians’ orders and prescriptions.Generates revenues by calculating, recording, and issuing charges.Ensures medication availability by delivering medications to patients and departments.Prepares reports by collecting and summarizing information.Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Pharmacy Technician Skills and Qualifications:

Excellent oral and written communication skillsStrong organizational skills and attention to detailPharmacy Assistant diplomaPrevious pharmacy experience preferredExperience with the Kroll Pharmacy SystemRelevant post secondary education preferredExcellent customer service skillsAbility to work independently in a fast environment
