Position Description
The Acute Care Program is currently seeking a full-time, permanent Occupational Therapist to work in both the Interprofessional Pain Addiction Recovery Clinic (IPARC) and the Concurrent Outpatient Medical and Psychosocial Addiction Support Service (COMPASS). IPARC is a dynamic team of dedicated clinicians who support outpatients with chronic pain conditions who also have problematic medication and/or substance use, using evidence-based interventions. COMPASS is an integrated research/clinical service incorporating medical and psychosocial treatments for addiction and concurrent disorders, including medical and non-medical treatment for opioid and alcohol use disorders, outpatient withdrawal management (day detox) as well as the treatment of clients experiencing chronic pain.
Reporting to the Service Manager, the successful candidate will work as part of an inter-professional team to provide comprehensive assessments, individual and group therapy, psycho-educational sessions for clients experiencing pain and seeking treatment for their opiate, alcohol and other substance use disorder, as well as transition-planning for clients completing the program. You will have sound knowledge of pain assessment and management modalities, crisis intervention, addiction medicine, concurrent disorders, group facilitation, harm reduction, and recovery-oriented and trauma-informed care. In this role, you will liaise with other services at CAMH and with community agencies, as required, to coordinate and deliver care for clients in an efficient and safe manner. You will provide supervision to Occupational Therapy students. You will be expected to contribute to CAMH processes, research activities, program development and evaluation, and continuous quality improvement activities. This position requires excellent organizational skills, superb written and oral communication skills and a demonstrated ability to meet administrative deadlines. Ability to work flexible hours on evenings/and or weekend may be a requirement. Other duties as assigned. This position will be located primarily at 100 Stokes Street at the Queen Street Site.
Qualifications
You must be registered and in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO). You must possess a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy (or a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy plus a Master’s degree in OT, Rehab Sciences or a related field), combined with a preferred three (3) years of experience working with individuals who have addiction, concurrent disorder and/or chronic pain diagnoses. You must also have membership in either the Ontario Society of Occupational Therapy and/or Canadian Association of Occupational Therapy and be a holder of COTO’s pre-requisite Professional Liability Insurance. You also must be eligible for adjunct/status-only appointments with university faculties associated with Occupational Therapy that has affiliation agreements with CAMH. You have strong group facilitation skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required to work within the inter-professional teams and to engage with clients, family members, and community care providers. Demonstrated ability to work with clients of diverse backgrounds is necessary. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
The candidate must have competence to perform psychotherapy and experience utilizing Cognitive Behavioural Therapy or other evidence-based modalities (depending on the needs of the program). Certificates/certification in evidence-based modalities is an asset. Certification in Motivational Interviewing is an asset. For incumbents not yet in independent practice who are required to practice with clinical supervision, CAMH, in its discretion, will pre-arrange this formal supervisory relationship with the clinical program as a condition of hire, based on capacity.

Please Note: This full-time, permanent position is part of the OPSEU bargaining unit.
Salary Range: $34.50 – $46.51 per hour
