Senior Infrastructure Modernization Consultant


This is a Full-time position in Toronto, ON posted October 29, 2021.

Our Modernization Consultant role is a high-profile, post-sales opportunity that ideally sees you call on your talent and technical expertise in Virtualized and Containerized environments, particularly in ESX, AWS, Azure, and/or GCP environments, as well as your ability to architect, engineer, and operationalize projects to help our customers platform and application Modernization journey.

What you’ll do Participate in customer-facing and internal projects, while assisting or leading the technical engineering and operationalization of platform and application modernization solutions Architect, engineer, and implement partial and/or complete modernization solutions using management tools and practices (e.g., Tanzu, Kubernetes, VMware vSphere, etc.) Troubleshoot performance, redundancy, configuration, and application incidents to resolution Cross-train and document new solutions, tools, and practices to team members, the Operations team, and other groups Conduct new product/service evaluations for internal publication to management for adoption Investigate performance and process failures and work to improve them What you need to succeed Must-have At least 1 advanced certification from a major public cloud vendor (AWS/Azure/GCP) VCAP, VCDX, or equivalent work experience Advanced Linux and Docker skills Solid understanding of networking, virtualization, containerization, and security Experience with Root Cause Correct Action analysis, report generation, and presenting results to customers 8 years IT experience Strong project timeline management skills and customer-facing consulting experience Eager to take on new tasks/responsibilities and passion for customer experience, operational excellence, and continuous development Nice-to-have Experience in a service provider or large enterprise implementing industry best practices to meet customers’ SLAs Virtualization and cloud security (NSX-Tm etc) 5 years of systems engineering experience in a service provider or large enterprise 2 years of on-premise virtualization and public cloud experience with production workloads Experience in a multi-tenant managed hosting or managed services department Experience with Containerization, platform, and application modernization.

Migration of on-premise workloads to a public cloud environment Experience with directory services (e.g., AD, LDAP) Some fluency of a programming or scripting language (e.g., Perl, Python, Bash, PowerShell) along with change tracking (Git) Who we are: CDW is a leading technology solutions provider to business, government, education, and healthcare organizations in Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
