Job Description We currently have an opening for an Intermediate Civil Engineer in our Kelowna office.
The position will focus on the design and implementation of highways, streets, roads, intersections, roundabouts, pathways, and active transportation corridors.
Responsibilities include the following:
• Design of transportation infrastructure, including but not limited to feasibility studies, conceptual design, preliminary design, functional design, and detailed design.
• Acting as Project Engineer/ Manager on assignments with assistance of Senior Engineers.
• Modelling in Civil 3D.
• Coordinating technicians and designers to ensure that drawings are accurately prepared and checked.
• Preparing written technical reports.
• Performing construction administration/inspection.
• Preparing cost estimates and contract documents.
• Performing Project Management tasks including communications with clients, managing schedules, budgets, and reporting requirements.
• Achieving budget compliance on assigned engineering projects to ensure financial objectives are met or exceeded.
• Mentoring junior staff.
• Participating in marketing strategies and business development with clients to procure business, including writing proposals.
• Communicating effectively and clearly; both verbally and in writing with clients.
• Coordinating subconsultants’ activities on projects.
• Executing projects in accordance with company guidelines and standards.
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter, capable of working independently with assistance from senior engineering staff.
The core requirements for the role are exemplary communication skills and strong technical capabilities in transportation design.
Experience on BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure projects is an asset.
You will have hands-on involvement in preparing studies, designs, cost estimates, specifications, and contract documents and will also participate in scheduling, budgeting, tendering, inspection and contract administration for transportation projects.
You will be involved in business development and preparation of proposals.
In addition, you will interact with clients, contractors, and sub-consultants.

Travel will be required at times based on project requirements.
Job Requirements
• Strong communication and organization skills.
• An undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
• A professional licensing with EGBC as a P.Eng., with a minimum of 5 years of transportation design experience.
• Relevant experience in the undertaking of design, specifications, cost estimating, proposals, tendering, and construction.
• Proven technical skills.
• Committed team player.
• Track record in managing clients and developing client relationships.
• Proven people skills for both internal and external clients and the ability to effectively and clearly liaise with clients, both written and verbal.
