Would you enjoy working closely with other Designer/Drafters and Engineers to ensure a coordinated design?

Parsons continues growing in Western Canada and we are looking for talented civil, bridge, and transportation engineers and technicians to join our core infrastructure team in Alberta and help us drive this growth.

Our Calgary office has an opportunity for SENIOR DESIGNER/DRAFTER to join our mobility solution team servicing our projects and clients in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

In this role you will work on creating innovative, practical solutions to various multi-modal transportation projects in Alberta, and across Canada.

We need our Designers at this level to have a successful track record in roadway and civil design, preferably in Alberta, with a strong work ethic and a collaborative mindset.

In this role you will apply more advanced CAD techniques, and develop difficult complex geometric layouts and design drawings utilizing either 2D or 3D CAD software to meet company and industry standards and codes.

You are expected to work independently and complete the most demanding design assignments.

You may also serve as a Lead Designer on a small to medium-sized projects.

Main Responsibilities:
• Utilizes a CAD workstation to prepare difficult and complex layout and design drawings utilizing theoretical and practical design knowledge.

• Performs complex drafting tasks efficiently and accurately both independently and as part of a team.

• Interprets and ensures conformance to applicable standards and codes, as well as company policies and procedures.

• Understands and utilizes more advanced software to complete assignments.

• Works closely with Engineers and other disciplines to ensure coordinated design systems.

• Meets geometric requirements and develops alternate design layouts of systems as required.

• Prepares earthworks quantities to assist in estimating
• Reviews supplier data and supplier drawings, as required.

• Develops and reviews orthographic (2D) and/or isometric (3D) drawings.

• Performs checking procedures as appropriate to the discipline and assigned by immediate supervisor.

• Provides input and technical guidance for mentoring lower-level Designers working on the same and other projects.

• Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Minimum Requirements
• Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from an accredited technical institute (or equivalent).

• 10 years of related roadway and civil drafting experience.

• Proficiency in Microstation and working knowledge of OpenRoads Design.

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, and/or Bluebeam.

• Time management, leadership, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications
• Previous experience in transportation projects with Alberta Transportation, and/or the Cities of Calgary and Edmonton
• Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D an asset This position is part of our Critical Infrastructure team.
