Network Designer – Messaging & Advanced Services

The candidate will be a key player in the continued Cloud Based evolution of Messaging and IN/SCP Platforms; hence having worked in a VMware or other virtualized environment and exposed to service testing and reporting automation will be considered beneficial.

Key Responsibilities
– Engineer and integrate new Messaging Engineering
– Assess technical requirements and provide high level engineering costs for the implementation and deployment of new services and platforms.

– Liaise with platform and service vendors, and Rogers technical and product teams.

Provide input for technical solutions related to the deployment of new services, and/or resolution for technical issues related to engineering design.

– Generate technical engineering documentation i.e.

Implementation Specification Documents, Test Plans, Work orders and Method of Procedures (MoP) which facilitates service testing and platform integration.

– This role will be responsible for any subset of the following platforms/services: MMSC, SMSC, VoiceMail, AntiSpam, MTA, Intelligent Network (IN/SCP), or Intelligent Proxy Platforms
– Work in a tight, highly motivated, team environment taking on leadership responsibility when necessary.

– Keep abreast of the industry developments specifically in respect to Messaging services deployments and advancements.

– Initiate and manage cost saving projects, track monthly saving progress to ensure the set objectives are met.

– Analyze network configurations to identify network optimization opportunities and plan the network redesigns.

– Support other Engineering teams to quantify the project cost and service cost.

– Generate one-off cost report upon request to support the management and the business.

– Be highly adaptive to work on various technical and business tasks assigned by the manager.

Qualifications & Experience preferred:
– Degree or equivalent in engineering/ computer science discipline.

– In depth knowledge of GSM/GPRS/HSPA/LTE call flows, and knowledge of 5G flows
– In depth knowledge of TCP/IP, UDP, DHCP, Linux, Web based services, WAP, LDAP/sLDAP, ENUM, DNS, SS7, SIP and Diameter
– Working knowledge of network platform, routers, switches, load-balancers as integral part of the server farms and service LANs
– Working knowledge of Mobile Data Networks (SGSN/GGSN/PGW/SGW)
– Knowledge of Charging Functions including Diameter charging flows and Ro/Rf
– Experience working with Messaging
– Testing Automation experience either in developing or deploying
– Excellent inter-personal skills, teamwork, and collaborative abilities.

– Proven ability to work in cross-functional teams.

– Ability to work with minimal supervision.

– Core Competencies include Innovative and Creative thinking, Problem Solving abilities, adaptability, and Initiative.

– Proven ability to multi-task and organize to meet tight deadlines.

– Excellent communication skills including creating and delivering PowerPoint presentations.
