National Business Development Leader

The Business Development team at EY is a group of seasoned market-facing professionals focused on driving sales, increasing EY’s presence across sectors and accounts, and helping our clients achieve their strategic goals. The ideal candidate is an executive level sales professional who will work across teams to provide the knowledge, resources, and tools that help EY deliver exceptional service to our clients, win in the marketplace, and support growth and profitability.

The Opportunity

As the Business Development Leader, you will be responsible for the development and execution of an integrated growth strategy across the entire business, including the driving of go-to-market initiatives. The ideal candidate has a proven history of building and leading a diverse, high-performing, market-facing Business Development team. You demonstrate market leadership through accounts and pursuits and by instilling an exceptional client experience culture. In this role, you will lead by example by taking on a significant designated market facing role along with associate targets. This role will require you to be consistently active in the external market as well as internal communications, and media as a voice of EY.

Some key activities would be:

Building, leading, and coaching a diverse and operationally efficient, market-facing BD organization: Ensure that the appropriate global target operating model is established and refined against changing market dynamics. Maintain clear commercial governance and cadence across individual and team sales targets, underpinned by robust data to enhance decision-making and interventions. Establish a culture and commitment to life-long learning to respond to ongoing market dynamics. Ensure a first-class, innovative pursuits team that utilizes automation and global delivery service centers. Coach partners and other leaders in market.

• Demonstrating market leadership: Participate in key EY focused external events and meetings. Own and drive the development of a winning and high-performing sales and growth culture. Develop and execute an optimal BD resource investment plan. Monitor market Segment trends, industry issues, and competitive intelligence.

Shape and drive commercial workstreams in line with national growth strategy: Plan and execute appropriate go-to-market initiatives including targeting and qualifying entry into new/emerging market sectors and accounts and establishing clear outcomes-based goals.

Your key responsibilities:

• Build a culture of success by leading and driving the execution of high-performing, diverse and inclusive sales talent (hiring, developing, assessing, etc.) within the BD Team.
• Provide mentorship within the BD organization as well as regular feedback for identified leaders. This role will have performance management (LEAD Reviewer) responsibilities and requires the ability to operate with a high degree of independency and autonomy.
• Using relevant business data i.e. profit and loss statement (P&L) etc., knowledge of EY, external market and sales
methodologies design and support investment decisions and commercial trade-offs.

To qualify, candidates must have:

• 15+ years of experience generating revenue through business development, sales and pursuit management.
• Demonstrated drive, determination and resilience, and track record in being able to overcome barriers to get results through people.
• Executive presence, interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to quickly establish personal credibility and demonstrated expertise.
• Expert talent management skills included proven change leadership skills around agility, adaptability and adoption as well as an appreciation of unique cultures and the importance of diversity.
• Understanding of market trends and client triggers that create opportunities for Business development.
• Strong knowledge of current and emerging sales tools, methodologies and go-to-market (GTM) models including social media.
