Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director, Rail Electrification the Senior OCS Construction Manager will be responsible for the operational and construction performance of the Utilities Group Major Rail projects. Key member of a multidisciplinary team that develops, designs, constructs and maintains major railway schemes. Participate as a key member of a pursuit team to secure major project awards. Responsible for the safe performance of rail electrification construction projects. Participate in design review and management of designers. Develop Project execution plans and schedule for the ongoing management of performance. Provide technical guidance in rail operations, standards and procedures and direction in project execution and construction activities Appropriately resolve all project related disputes with Clients, Partners, Subs, Public etc. Reports issues to the Director, Rail Electrification and the related project Executive regarding construction performance, workload status, potential legal issues and potential opportunities. Puts in place a construction team with clearly defined responsibilities covering all aspects of the operation. Prepares staff development and succession plans for key positions in the group. Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate daily operations Maintains positive personal contact and relationships with major clients, partners and unions. Ensures that all activity in the designated projects are consistent with corporate and divisional strategic plans, business plans, policies and procedures.

Required Knowledge and Skills

Several years’ of construction experience working on rail electrification projects Several years’ experience in all three elements of the Electrification and Plant (E&P) discipline including Overhead Line Equipment (OLE), 25kV Power Distribution and Low Voltage Electrical systems Previous supervisory experience Several years’ experience running and managing crews on electrification rail projects Several years’ experience working on major pursuits and proposals for projects worth over $5 billion contract value Previous experience planning and implementing work schedules Previous experience managing subcontractors and interfacing with key stakeholders Demonstrated ability to evaluate employees and deployment of field resources on projects of various size and complexity as projects demand Several years’ experience establishing effective project controls that track the productivity of projects to ensure adherence to estimates and bids Several years OCS construction management experience on complex Joint Venture or Private Public Partnership projects Highly developed communication skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with public officials, Board of Directors, subordinates, peers and the general public Demonstrated ability to use sound business judgment and proven leadership for people of all levels Ability to plan, review, assign and evaluate the work of subordinate managers Team player Organized with excellent written and oral communication skills, effective interpersonal skills and flexible Must be able to speak, read, and write in English Supervisor Accountability
Supervise staff in various areas of responsibility Recruit, hire, train, supervise and assign responsibilities to staff and project teams including project managers, superintendents, project coordinators and administrative assistants assigned to project Manage performance expectations and conduct performance evaluations of project staff Provide advice, guidance, and direction to subordinate executives and managers toward their professional development

Compensation and Benefits
