Legal Assistant – Litigation


This is a Contract position in Toronto, ON posted November 11, 2020.

Now’s your chance Located in downtown Toronto, this firm is looking for its next Legal Assistant to manage to work from home for the foreseeable future and likely a balance of from-home and from-office, in the long-term.

what you get
• base salary commensurate to experience up to $65,000
• 3 weeks vacation
• work from home, and from the office (expected for training and for digitizing documents as they come in
• some overtime to be expected in the first few months, but generally little-to-no overtime thereafter

• work with two partners with varying personalities who you are
• 2 years’ experience as a litigation legal assistant/law clerk
• a strong understanding of the rules of civil procedure
• ideally direct experience in civil litigation (with some exposure to commercial litigation as an asset)
• exposure to PC Law
• graduate from a recognized legal assistant or law clerk diploma program (or enough relevant working experience)
• take direction well
• eager to learn and open to feedback
• great with managing up and asking for more clarification when needed
• assertive and not intimidated in supporting at the partner level
• experience in federal court rules is a nice-to-have what you will do
• manage a file from start to finish
• drafting affidavits, pleadings, statements, applications, motions, etc.
