Job Summary

The Sr Analyst / Finance Business Partner is responsible for partnering with the Operations and broader Finance team to provide exceptional financial and analytical support. In this role, you will work closely with the Operations team to improve the quarterly financial forecasting process, perform variance analysis and create insightful reporting for business partners that will drive business decisions. You will be the Finance lead for IT projects to implement BI and forecasting tools and will support the HR implementation of ADP. 
 

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide exceptional financial and analytical support (planning, reporting, analytics, modeling, etc.) to our Operations team, with a primary focus on people costs  
  •  Improve quarterly financial forecasting processes
  •  Assist in design of improved cost allocation methods between entities
  •  Be a leader in change management to implement better/best practices with business partners 
  •  Partner with HR/IT to support successful implementation of ADP including:
    •  Ensure reporting design in systems projects align with management reporting needs
    • Support data conversion of employee records  
    •  Support user testing
  • Lead implementation of BI Reporting tool
  •  Establish strong business partnerships with other functions throughout the organization
  •  Having a continuous focus on process improvement and efficiency
  •  Perform detailed variance analysis comparing financial performance with relevant forecasts, and create meaningful reporting to present to business partners with actionable recommendations to drive business decisions
  •  Partner with business on headcount, cost centre analysis and other ad-hoc reporting
  •  Partner with the broader Finance group on special projects and financial close processes to ensure complete and accurate financials
  •  Analyze data to identify opportunities for cost efficiency, and while understanding and forecasting cross-functional impacts of related business decisions

Qualifications and Skills

  •  BA/ BS degree, or equivalent degree, in Finance, Accounting, Business, or other related quantitative field
  •  5-7 years of progressive experience working in corporate finance or accounting, and business/financial analysis
  •  Ability to build strong relationships with business partners
  •  Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and intrapersonal skills a must
  •  Sense of urgency and ability to work in a complex environment
  • Previous experience implementing financial systems a must – eg. ERP, BI Tools, ADP  
  •  Ability to drive change, build process and teach business partners why process and systems are required
  •  Ability to systematically improve data quality and build processes that can be automated to reduce the reliance on excel and eliminate hidden rework
  •  Comfortable dealing with ambiguity, incomplete data and performing analysis requiring hypothetical assumptions  
  •  Excel ninja and presentation / reporting guru 
  • Superior problem solving, analytical and modeling skills, combined with ability to effectively articulate results to business leaders
