The Opportunity 

The Research Analyst, Investments, is responsible for tracking and analyzing market data to support various investment theses for potential development and acquisition opportunities. In this role you will work on ad hoc research projects and be able to prepare internal and external presentations. 



Key Responsibilities 


  • Market research – Compile, and centrally organize, relevant industry, real estate, demographic and other market data from various public and private sources to support all Investment team functions and mandates 
  • Market evaluation –   Conduct on-going analysis of current and future markets for potential development and/or acquisitions, by developing new (and improving current) suite of reports and tools including Amica’s proprietary demographic and market ranking model 
  • Reports and Presentations – Harness internally and externally sourced data to create compelling visual aids (maps, dashboards, tables, charts, etc.), reports, and professional presentations to inform strategic investment decisions 
  • Due Diligence Support – Provide due diligence support for prospective developments / acquisitions, including site analyses, zoning reviews, competitive landscape scans, and review of relevant consultants’ reports 
  • Development Support – Support the Investment Analysts team with the preparation of valuation models for ground-up development projects or repositioning of existing properties (including working with a cross-functional team to compile and analyze operational assumptions, development costs, and risk & returns analysis and other topics as required to develop a strong business case for each proposed project) 


What we’re looking for 


  • A University Degree in a business, economics, or other real estate related field 
  • Two years of experience in a real estate, research or consulting/advisory role preferred 
  • Extremely proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook). 
  • Experience with PowerBI or Tableau considered an asset 
  • Exceptionally strong attention to detail, strong communication and time-management skills 
  • Quick learner, ability to work well in a team, and strong problem-solving skills 
  • Sound quantitative skillset with ability to identify new insights and trends through data analysis
