Manager, Client Accounting Services

This is a Full-time position in Toronto, ON posted March 10, 2023.

We are seeking a Manager, Client Accounting Services to join our BPA team in Mississauga, ON.

The Manager, Client Accounting Services is responsible for all areas related to our clients’ Trust Fund financial reporting.

They are responsible for maintaining and enforcing accounting principles, practices, and procedures to achieve operating efficiency and ensure superior customer service to the Trustees.

This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities.

Practical financial statement preparation experience is a must for this role.

The Client Accounting Services Manager reports to the Operations Manager and works closely with the company’s Senior Vice Presidents and Consultants .

The Manager, Client Accounting Services will: Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure for every client Ensure the accurate and timely processing of all positive pay banking transactions and monthly bank compliance activities for every client Ensure all client Trust Fund expenses are paid and payment deadlines are met
– payments to include electronic file transfers for cheque disbursements, direct deposits and wire transfers etc.

Advise staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions and new client set-ups Perform full cycle of accounting functions for assigned client including cash management and investment transactions, practical experience is a must for this task Perform monthly review of all financial statements and supplementary spreadsheets prepared by staff accountants and ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met Work with the external service providers and appointed external audit firms to ensure accurate and timely year end closes and year end audits for all clients Monitor and analyze teamwork performance to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy Respond to inquiries from the Operations Manager, Senior Vice President, Department Managers, Consultants, and other managers regarding financial results, special reporting requests and other matters related to Trust Fund Services Enforce company governance and fraud deterrence principles, guidelines, procedures and controls and help establish and implement new procedures and controls as required Assist in development and implementation of new technology and software features to enhance the workflow of the department and improve Trust Fund Services for clients Be involved in staff recruitment and provide training to new and existing staff as needed Handle personnel issues related to staff conflicts, absenteeism, performance issues, policy compliance, etc.

Work with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff Collaborate with the other Department managers to support overall department goals and objectives Contribute to business growth as a key member of the company’s leadership team.

T o be successful as a Manager, Client Accounting Services with BPA, you will need : Accounting or relevant discipline and CPA designation in good standing At least five years prior supervisory experience in the field of finance.

Must have experience preparing monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements Knowledge of strategic planning.

All-star candidates will have: Knowledge of strategic planning.

Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Ability to delegate tasks and responsibilities.

Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
