We are seeking an Accounting Technician for our growing Tax team in Sudbury, ON.

Check out this post to see why over 5500 people have joined MNP YOUR ROLE MNP Performance Expectations Assist with tax engagements including preparation of client reporting packages Respond to Canada Revenue Agency reviews and request for information Responsible for preparing complete and accurate tax returns while delivering outstanding customer service Compute taxes owed and prepare personal and corporate tax returns (and other tax compliance slips) ensuring compliance with government standards Prepare year-end tax forms (T1s, T4s and T5s) Respond to client questions and queries Liaise and correspond professionally with clients and colleagues Raise identified technical issues with manager or engagement partner Update manager or engagement partner on the progress of engagements Set-up files for new and existing clients and assist with completion of administrative work Manage multiple files simultaneously Compile and organize client records Identify issues and errors, investigate discrepancies and discuss with managers or engagement partners to develop resolutions Communicate with governments regarding information requests, assessments and installments Work with accounting software and provide support to clients Develop and maintain relationships with client management Develop a thorough understanding of MNP’s services, businesses and industry Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes Raise awareness of MNP at community events Attend internal MNP courses to further develop your accounting and assurance knowledge Credentials Completion of an Accounting or Tax certificate or a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce or Business Administration (Accounting or Finance major considered an asset) Entry level to 2 years of bookkeeping and/or tax related experience is preferred Working knowledge of trial balances, general ledger (GL) databases, financial statement close processes and accounting matters is beneficial Working knowledge of the Canadian Income Tax Act Experience in preparing T4s and T5s and knowledge of personal and corporate tax is preferred Understanding of payroll, bookkeeping and record keeping practices on manual and computerized system(s) is considered an asset Experience working with, or exposure to, accounting and tax software such as Caseware, Profile, Quickbooks and Simply Accounting is beneficial Strong computer literacy including effective working skills of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint Some travel may be required Core Competencies and Personal Characteristics Integrity
