Job Overview To support the strategic development and positioning of CAM product offer, the incumbent reports to the Director of Product Strategy and Research, works closely with all Product Development Directors within CAM Product Development and Management team, in developing the overall framework for industry and competitive research in order to support the product offer including traditional mutual funds, ETFs, and Alternative investment strategies.The incumbent is responsible for maintaining current competitive intelligence on product and sales strategies of key competitors; use the information to support product management and development activities.The incumbent may at times have to manage a pool of analysts that get seconded to projects lead by Directors or Senior Managers of Product development & Management based on the needs of the business. What You’ll be Doing:1.Establishes and manages research framework to support ongoing product management and strategy requirementsConduct research on market trends, profitability and sales analysis and sales force and client’s needs, product and sales strategies of competitorsUnderstand CAM’s position with reference to gross and net sales, asset under management, and other benchmarks across all distribution channels and segmentsUndertakes regular category analysis to support positioning of products, as well as to inform Portfolio Managers/ Product designers and related groups about the environment in which our products compete and the characteristics of these products.Prepare and present reports for senior management and various CIBC Departments on significant trends that will likely influence the industry, our product strategy and distribution models2.Supports and delivers sales support and trainingSupports the development and management of the Product and Industry knowledge training program.The program is designed to ensure adequate training for new sales hires, update knowledge of existing sales partners in relation to existing and new products as well as industry related trends.Supports informational and positioning requirements of our products for use by our Communications and Marketing colleaguesResponsibility for developing timely information in response to market conditions, regulatory changes, , business needs and media requests.3. Human Resource Development and Resource AllocationEnsure the proper allocation and prioritization of resourcesEstablish, develop and continually enhance the core capabilities of employees by defining roles and responsibilities of each team member, setting performance standards, coaching and providing feedback on results and accomplishments.Of critical importance is the need to identify strong candidates, assess their career potential and implement development plans for key members.What We’re Looking For:Previous people management experienceRobust analytical skillsWell-developed writing skills sufficient to creatively and precisely articulate ideas that involve interpretation, analysis and assessment of complex conceptual subjectsDeveloped project planning, management and scheduling skills sufficient to prioritize projects and meet project deadlines.Advanced interactive skills sufficient to convey complex conceptual information and ideas involving extensive interpretation Intermediate proficiency in Excel (run macros, manipulate data etc), M*
