Please do not apply if you do not have coding skills with ASP.Net and C#, or if you do not live within an easy commute of downtown Toronto.We are seeking a Development Team Manager, leading a team of highly skilled developers and delivering complex development projects across a variety of products and technologies, primarily on the Microsoft ASP.Net Web Forms platform.

You are someone who loves technology, loves making a real difference in the world, and can combine both passions by directing a team of talented developers in Toronto.While being highly technical and hands-on capable, you will lead development projects across predominantly web-based, Microsoft ASP.Net, C# and SQL Server -based technologies. Managing the successful delivery of projects will require you to plan, coordinate and lead activities across the full delivery lifecycle from architecture to quality assurance. This will include working closely with our Product Manager, as well as liaising with key project stakeholders in Business Development, Customer Support and Senior Management as required.You will ensure the structured and coordinated planning of your team’s development. Your technical background and experience will ensure you can offer the support and guidance required being able to support and assist developers at code level.This role offers challenges across a wide variety of projects and responsibilities, including the opportunity to influence the future direction of the department and systems used across the business.To apply for this role, in addition to having a proven management background you must also have proven technical capability in software development combined with delivery of projects. The job requires a motivated individual who is experienced in taking responsibility and can independently deliver results on both departmental and business projects.Key Responsibilities Line management and personal development of a team of skilled developers.Leading the delivery of multiple complex simultaneous development projects from design through to release and maintenance.Working closely with Director of Technology to ensure that infrastructure (staging, production) and internal IT are meeting performance, uptime and functional needs.Working closely with Product Management to produce accurate delivery estimates and manage the transition from analysis through to design and delivery.Provide regular and effective progress updates to and work closely with Product Management to ensure the management of any delivery risks or issues.Define delivery phases of the project including activities, sub-activities, and milestones ensuring these are documented and used as the basis for the project event log, issues and risk log and any subsequent reporting.Ensure awareness, involvement and support from the key stakeholders and participants by building strong project teams and maintaining robust communication on the project status throughout its life cycle.Supporting project resource scheduling and department capacity planning.Contribution to the definition of departmental and systems strategies and progression of any allocated objectives.Work on a wide range of projects involving the implementation of new and existing systems, solutions and processes.Candidate Profile Experience in software developer management and the ability to lead and influence others.Experience in the development of software using C#, .Net and SQL Server technologies. Microsoft certifications in these areas would be a plus.An understanding and exposure to Team Foundation Server and ALM, ideally with experience with DevOps and related tools like Octopus.Experience in formal personal development planning and individual, team and process performance management.Excellent personal organization and ability to prioritize and carry out multiple tasks.Able to influence and drive projects to meet key milestones and overcome challenges.Comfortable working without routine supervision.A desire to remain technically capable and an expert in current technologies.
