Associate Marketing Manager
Concord, Ontario

JOB FUNCTION:
The Associate Marketing Manager is focused on leading the development and execution of the strategy that builds preference for all brands and product lines sold within our channels.
The position will deliver on the specific brand, channel and retailer needs.
The successful candidate must be able to identify consumer, category and customer insights and leverage those insights to define the channel strategy.
Strong communication skills are essential to engage, inform and inspire the internal cross-function team and to continue to strengthen relationships with the customer merchant and marketing teams.
This desired candidate is a well-rounded retail or CPG marketing professional with experience in media and promotion, brand and product management, P&L management, agency management, retail marketing and strategic leadership.

Key Responsibilities Include:
Marketing: Develop and Execute marketing strategies that increase brand preference within the channel.
Includes traditional and digital media, retail/co-op advertising, in-store communication, fixture development, promotions, pricing, sales team and associate training, and assortment decisions.
Role will analyze and track programs versus stated goals.
Shopper Insight: Support the development of actionable strategies, based on shopper insights, that will be used for product innovation/repositioning initiatives, assortment decisions, merchandising, and collateral
In Store Merchandising: Support the development of the merchandising plan, color merchandising materials, power aisle recommendations, shelf sets, and in-store signage/collateral that drives sales, improves ease of shopping, and informs the end user.
Pricing: Support the development of a pricing and promotion strategy based on competitive analysis of market pricing, brand positioning, and shopper insight
Budget: Maximize channel marketing budget to align with the spend objectives of brand building, volume building and/or competitive response.
Utilize ROI tools as a measurement of effectiveness and ensure all spend is captured and approved prior to commitment
Communication: Actively support the delivery/execution of the channel marketing plan.
Role works well with agency contacts and is able to contribute to the delivery of meaningful and clear briefs to ensure needs of the shopper/end user and Customer are met.
Interface, influence and drive alignment across PPG management team, DIY Customer management team, DIY Customer associates, PPG field sales team, brand teams, and other cross functional teams to ensure delivery/execution of channel marketing plans.

Business Acumen: Know and understand budget parameters including sales, volume, margin and marketing A&P. Monitor and track spend as well as ROI analysis to ensure effective spend.
Assist in the input of marketing spend in system following SAP/MEA/Internal Order Guidelines.

REQUIREMENTS:
The successful candidate is a highly motivated, data-driven and results oriented leader with the skills to plan, prioritize, guide, and motivate internal and external teams.
This position requires a high-level of overall passion and curiosity for marketing.
Must have excellent project management and problem solving skills and be able to prioritize and multi-task in a fast paced environment with aggressive deadlines.
This person possesses superior communication and presentation skills and can effectively adapt their communication style based on audience and topic.
They have experience working effectively and driving results within a complex sales organization and with cross functional teams.
They must have the ability to think strategically, strong business acumen, and the ability to work autonomously and within teams.
They must have knowledge of the market place, the ability to think strategically, and strong business acumen.
They must have the ability to analyze, synthesize, and form logical conclusions from data.
Minimum 3 years marketing experience, Bachelor’s and/or college diploma/degree in marketing or related field are required.
MBA an asset.
Experience in (CPG) consumer package goods marketing, retail marketing and the home improvement category are advantageous.
