System Administrator

This is a Contract position in Toronto, ON posted August 5, 2017.

Overview:

Cara Operations Limited is searching for a System Administrator to join our team of IT professionals.

The System Administrator will be part of the Cara IT Infrastructure team and will administer on-premise and cloud based systems & storage. The system administrator will also be responsible for backups, and play a key role in Disaster Recovery tests & execution. The System Administrator will work 9AM to 5PM with extended hours as required along with being on-call 24×7. The System Administrator will interact with the Cara restaurants and Corporate users and as such, excellent listening and communication skills are critical.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer on-premise and cloud based systems; which includes monitoring, management, patching, security, troubleshooting, reporting, physical installs etc., this includes items such as:
  • Microsoft Hyper-V 2008 & 2012 clusters
  • Microsoft Windows 2008 and 2012 (virtualize & physical)
  • DFS
  • Microsoft System Centre Configuration Manager (SCCM) 2012
  • EMC Storage (CX4, CX3) and Brocade ED-48000B SAN Switches and other storage solutions
  • HP Severs
  • Monitoring Tools (Microsoft SCOM, HP SIM etc.)
  • Symantec Net Backup
  • Microsoft Exchange Online (Tenant & Co-Existance)
  • Active Directory On-Premise & Office 365 Federation and Directory Sync
  • Citrix XenApp
  • Microsoft Terminal Server
  • Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services or Vmware Vcloud

Ensure PCI compliance and optimal security Maintain tickets in the service desk system and update internal knowledgebase Escalate issues to external service providers, and participate in vendor management Work on projects, as assigned Remain up to date on new technologies and participate in evaluations Follow set Cara procedures and policies

Required Skills and abilities:

  • Experience in companies with large clustered & virtualized environments
  • Have experience working with the following technologies:
  • Microsoft Hyper-V 2008 & 2012 clusters
  • Microsoft Windows 2008 and 2012 (virtualize & physical)
  • DFS
  • Microsoft System Centre Configuration Manager (SCCM) 2012
  • EMC Storage (CX4, CX3) and Brocade ED-48000B SAN Switches and other storage solutions

Experience in cabling and patching in data centres Able to troubleshoot and search for solutions through available tools, internet, knowledge base, manuals Thorough knowledge of security best practices & current and future storage and server technologies University Degree or College Diploma in Information Technology or Computer Science A+ and Network certification is ideal Experienced using Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and Project Experience with Call Tracking Software such as Cherwell is an asset Experience with cloud and on-premise; including hybrid coexistence Experience with providing remote support Experience with PC, point of sale, printer and network technologies PCI experience Restaurant industry experience is an asset. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Motivated to learn and grow with the organization
