Technical Business Analyst Intermediate

6478Join the Global Community of Scotiabankers to help customers become better off.The incumbent is responsible for technical systems and business application support to ScotiaMcLeod production applications and database systems. The incumbent manages and maintains the currency of all issues which have been assigned for any supported application in a manner which provides high quality service to customers. Key Accountabilties:2nd level Support and Management•Provide effective day to day end user technical support to all units on production systems supported including data correction. •Escalation to Manager for assistance and/or escalation purposes, to quickly analyze problems and resolve escalated issues, liaise with 3rd level support when applicable, and provide recommendations to management with regards to resolution.•Escalates all high priority issues affecting availability, customer impact and user impact to the Manager and Senior Manager.•The incumbent is responsible to raise tickets from any email or phone issue request.  System Availability/Service Levels•Fosters ongoing communication and close working relationships with management in all support units as it relates to System Availability, Incident Management, Event Management, Request Fulfillment, Problem Management and Change Management.•Champions the resolution of system related issues, ensuring that a high level of availability and customer service is provided to internal and external customers according to Service Level Agreements in place.  •Ensures customers are fully satisfied with the service and support received•Develops and/or implements proactive operational enhancements with the aim of improving service levels, maintaining availability targets and SLAs.•Conducts debriefs on potential/impacting availability issues. Problem Management Review and Reporting•Performs reviews of tickets within one’s own ticket queue to ensure that tickets are being created, logged and prioritized correctly using the IT Store/Service system. Operations•Support the enforcement of established data governance policies and practices:•Act on daily validation reports correct data where necessary•Provide instructions to other departments on data related problems where necessary in order to correct root issues•Perform daily reconciliations•Process failed records from nightly loads•Assist with the implementation of high-quality data within ScotiaMcLeod through active management of mission-critical applications, particularly within the ADSR program.

This includes: participating in the execution of the testing strategy as required.•Support the Business Analysis and Solutions Group (BAS), ScotiaMcLeod Project and Support Services (PSS) teams and Operations Branch Training and Support team as required to understand the data governance impact of steady-state issues, and assist in identifying root causes and potential solutions.  Ongoing direct contact with end-users is a key component. Communication will be managed through a variety of channels including email, phone calls, in-person meetings and IT Store tickets. Skills:The candidate must possess the following skills:•             A creative self-starter, results-oriented and highly motivated individual with excellent analytical skills and the ability to apply this knowledge in the resolution of complex business problems•             Experience in all phases of the application development life cycle.  Candidate must have a very good understanding of current IT practices and software development methodologies.•             Good knowledge of financial instruments, including market conventions and valuation methods, end-to-end workflows among the front, middle, and back offices, within at least one financial market area (e. g. equities, commodities, trading) and a good knowledge of at least one other financial market area.•             Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral, written and presentation) in order to effectively liaise with business users, vendors, and other departments.•             Effective time management and organization skills with the ability to use diplomacy, judgment, and persuasion to secure agreement and cooperation from the business users and a dynamic development team.•             Good working knowledge of databases such as Oracle, Sybase, or MS SQL Server The following skills would be an asset:•             Completed CSC, CFA, or other securities and investment management training•             Experience with PL/SQL, UNIX, PHP, HTML and Visual Basic is a definite asset•             Experience with portfolio management software (eg. Charles River), or client reporting software (eg.
