Team Lead Web Developer

This is a Full-time position in Toronto, ON posted June 27, 2017.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all development of web applications, including video player and web technology-based applications (Samsung SmartTV, Chromecast, etc.) 
  • Lead your team by example; drive, dedication to building the best software, and mentoring accordingly 
  • Work with other departments (Product, UX, Design, QA) with regards to requirements gathering and analysis, demonstrating technical leadership and exerting influence 
  • Lead technical solutioning sessions with other developers to ensure that solutions are complete, scalable and are future-proof 
  • Build, foster and work within an Agile environment, including participation in priority/ sprint planning, story planning and daily standups, as well as analysis and communication of change impacts to functional team and business stakeholders 
  • Participate in code reviews, ensuring that code adheres to established standards, is well-structured, documented and is manageable Unit-test code for robustness and stability 
  • Provide Tier 2 technical support for issues reported by Customer Care and internal teams, including after hours problem resolution Analyze code regularly and refactor as required to minimize technical debt Assist external development agencies with integration of third-party services/ platforms 
  • Communicate to the Digital Manager and Project Managers, providing development time estimates and progress updates, with efficiency and accuracy 

Qualifications
Must have:

  • At least 2 years in a Team Lead/ Senior role that involved mentoring other developers 
  • Knowledge of Agile software development practices
  • Ability to lead, motivate, influence and generate enthusiasm among team members 
  • At least 5 years experience HTML/ HTML5, CSS/ CSS3 and JavaScript (vanilla JS, AJAX, jQuery and JSON) 
  • Strong knowledge of JavaScript, handling events, reusability of methods 
  • Experience in Video player development (video.js, flash, HTML5, JW Player) 
  • Experience with node.js Experience with PHP, MySQL (query building and optimization) and XML 
  • Debugging skills for code, desktop and mobile browsers Knowledge of scrum and agile methodologies Excellent proficiency with developing responsive websites and emails 
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot cross browser compatibility issues Ability to setup and configure local development environments 
  • Experience with planning and writing technical documentation Knowledge of internet security and best practices 
  • Strong facilitation and coaching skills  
  • Able to influence and drive projects to meet key milestones and overcome challenges 

 Must have code samples to submit for review

Salary: 90000-95000$ per hour
