System Administrator- Business Objects

Role Summary:
This Information Technology Analyst position is responsible for supporting business intelligence software infrastructure and clients for Sun Life world wide. This position is accountable for the availability, performance, stability and recoverability of the BI technologies and applications supported by the DBIS – Technologies team as well as fulfilling client requests. This position is also required to design and implement new Business Intelligence technology infrastructures and procedures.
The position can be located at our office in Atria (Victoria Park and Sheppard), or Waterloo, depending on where a suitable candidate is found.
Responsibilities:

  • Provide product and environment support and administration for business intelligence software environments – SAP Business Objects, Microsoft Power BI, Qlikview, Tableau
  • Manage intake and fill user requests – examples are application and user set up and administration, code promotion requests, software consulting and problem support
  • Lead/participate in new software and software renewal assessment and implementation projects
  • Lead/participate in design and implementation of software product deployment infrastructure
  • Lead/participate in design, development, testing, implementation and support system management and support processes and procedures
  • Lead/participate in Sun Life Disaster Recovery tests
  • Keep abreast of technology landscape and industry trends pertaining to business intelligence
  • Provide timely updates to Manager, co-workers, project managers and business users

Main Accountabilities:

  • Ensure business intelligence environments supported by the Data and Business Intelligence services team are well supported and meet predetermined service level
  • Ensure all client requests, infrastructure support requests are completed on time with good client satisfaction
  • Ensure project deliverables are of good quality and delivered on time within budget
  • Ensure departmental standards and guidelines are followed
  • Ensure company and department policies are followed

Technical Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of working experience on one of the following software products and infrastructures:
  • SAP Business Objects suite of software
  • Microsoft Power BI
  • Tableau
  • Qlikview
  • Working knowledge of SAP Business Object Universes, Crystal and WEBI reporting
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, Qlikview
  • Working knowledge of security protocols such as LDAP, Keberos, and Windows Active Directory
  • Working knowledge of network and data connectivity, including connectivity to big data infrastructure
  • Working knowledge with Linux, Windows server OS and utilities
  • Working knowledge with sql and relational databases running on Windows, Unix, Linux, and mainframe

Assets:

  • Knowledge of other business intelligence and data integration software such as IBM InfoSphere, SAS
  • Knowledge of system development life cycle and agile development methodologies
  • Experience with application development tools such as java and Microsoft .net
  • Financial and Insurance business experience
