Chelsea Hotel - Toronto

This is a Full-time position in Toronto, ON posted July 6, 2017.


Clean food preparation and storage areas and maintains supplies for service. Cleans and stores pots and pans used by the kitchens and ensures that the surrounding kitchen areas are clean and organized. Support kitchen, banquet and outlet team with equipment needed for food preparation or table setups.

Reports to the Executive Chef/Assistant F&B Manager.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Proper disposal of garbage
  • Keep all refrigeration, storage, and working areas clean and in good working condition to comply with Health Department regulations
  • Performs any general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products as assigned by supervisor
  • Pick up cleaning supplies such as cleaning rags from the Laundry Department.
  • Assist in the transportation of banquet food and BQT set-ups.
  • Safe and effective use of equipment.
  • Adhere to and comply with all safety regulations when handling hazardous materials according to MSDS.
  • Be fully aware of fire and emergency procedures and your role therein.
  • Follow Chelsea grooming and uniform policy
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by Management.
  • Supply and maintain recycling and food bin.
  • Control the use of dishwashing equipment, feed detergents and checks temperature controls

  • Service given should meet and/or exceed the guest service standards of the Chelsea Hotel.

  • Answer any guest or employee questions or direct them to someone that can assist them. Ensure complete guest and employee satisfaction.

  • Open communication with Managers to report and challenges or issues.
  • Self-motivated team player with demonstrated interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, time-sensitive, multi-tasking, multifunctional team environment
  • Able to work flexible shifts including evenings shifts, weekend and holidays

Academic and Working Qualifications:

Working Experience

  • Previous Guest Service Experience


  • Culinary skills an asset


  • FOODSAFE Level 1 and WHIMIS certificate would be considered an asset


Soft Skills

  • Be able to work effectively in a team
  • Strong work ethic
  • Multitask


  • Good command of the English language both written and oral.

 Physical Requirements

  • Able to meet physical demands of the position, including standing for long period of time, lifting up to 30lbs, and bending
