JOB OVERVIEW
We are currently seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Finance team. In this role, the successful candidate is expected to prepare financial statements, regulatory reports, reconciliations and analysis; assist the Manager of Finance in reviewing journal entries; take on the lead in the coordination of audits; and provide training and guidance to junior members of the team.
WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Prepare monthly/quarterly financial statements with supporting working papers, analysis and reconciliations
  • Prepare regulatory reports and co-ordinate regulatory audits
  • Complete assigned month-end processes, including preparing/reviewing journal entries
  • Prepare year-end audit working papers and co-ordinate external audits
  • Compile sales tax returns with supporting schedules
  • Provide training and guidance for the junior members of the team
  • Work with senior members of the team to identify and implement process improvements

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

  • Minimum 5 years of financial reporting experience with at least 2 years at senior level
  • Investment industry experience is an asset
  • Post-secondary education in accounting, with a strong understanding of accounting concepts and current practices
  • An accounting designation (CA, CGA or CMA) or actively enrolled in the program
  • Proficient with MS Office applications, particularly with Excel and Word
  • Self-motivated, detailed-oriented and dedicated, and a good team player
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment to meet strict deadlines
